Adam Lambert’s fans have been talking and hoping for years that Queen would record an album with him, even if it was only a LIVE album. Wouldn’t that rock your car?!?
On the heels of their Bohemian Rhapsody movie, Queen’s on fire right now. Coupled with world demand for concerts from Queen + Adam Lambert since they began touring together in 2011, how could this not be a “go?”
There’s many things for Adam and Queen to think about before a decision is made. I can’t pretend to know what’s in their minds, but I would imagine Queen has to consider The Cosmos Rocks, the 2008 album they put out with Paul Rodgers that didn’t go anywhere. From the article below, in 2017 Brian told Rolling Stone “[W]e spent a big part of our lives doing that with Paul… on which there was some good material and we worked damn hard for months on end.”
Wait. I’m sorry. Roger has even been quoted saying none of this would be happening without Adam. That’s a far cry from the criticism they received with Paul.
I can understand putting out new music without Freddie Mercury would be scary. He wrote the majority of their songs. But several of their giant hits were written without Freddie. Just to name a few: Brian May wrote Keep Yourself Alive, Dragon Attack, Fat Bottom Girls and We Will Rock You. Roger Taylor wrote Radio Ga Ga, I’m In Love With My Car and Sheer Heart Attack. John Deacon wrote You’re My Best Friend, Another One Bites the Dust and I Want To Break Free. Click here for Queen’s catalog, with the list of authors. (If you click on the Author(s) heading, it will group them by Author. )
Doesn’t new music spill out from songwriters, whether they want it or not? So how can there not be lots of great unrecorded music?
Then we need to think about where Adam fits into all of this. Playing that mind reader again, maybe he wants some separation in his music worlds? Perhaps he would prefer any recordings to be LIVE concerts and not original material?
Again, I have no idea. So, along with you, I’ll wait. But at least there’s current talk happening!
And don’t forget to watch Sunday’s American Idol with Adam as mentor for Queen Week and Monday night on ABC, the documentary, The Show Must Go On – The Queen + Adam Lambert Story!
Love ya!

Will Queen Ever Make An Album With Adam Lambert?
Martin Kielty, Ultimate Classic Rock, April 24, 2019
It’s nearly 10 years since Adam Lambert made his first appearance alongside Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen during the finale of American Idol’s eighth season. That moment formed a relationship that’s seen Queen + Adam Lambert delivering a series of tours, appearing at the Oscars ceremony and, later this month, starring in documentary The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story.
It’s a purple period for the British rock icons, following the $900 million box office success plus the four-Oscar triumph of biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. With so much achieved alongside Lambert – who frequently states he’s representing Freddie Mercury, rather than trying to replace him, and helping to keep the music alive – the band are often asked the obvious question: are you going to record an album together? The answer remains elusive.

definitely an album should be in place! Whether it be live or new music….it must happen!!!
I agree!
I would buy it! First comment to help push the album!
I think it would be fascinating to see what they come up with!
They don’t need a whole album…..start with one song on Adam’s album and sing it at all the concerts this summer…..see how it goes…..how many downloads for instance. Adam’s album has been taking too long…..he needs to get it out.
I’d love an album but that would take so long……start with one or two songs….
