Fans Fight Back: SFGN Publisher Blasts Adam Lambert in Editorial, Enraging Fans

After SFGN Publisher Norm Kent wrote an editorial piece “Adam Lambert’s GLAAD Award a Joke” where he blasted GLAAD for giving the pop singer an award LGBT advocacy, social media blew up with Lambert fans, known affectionately as Glamberts, attacked SFGN and Kent.
They were especially outraged at these passages from Kent:
“Therefore, seeing him on the cover of our newspaper a few weeks ago made my partner and me puke.”
“Both of us went ballistic that Lambert was on our cover. Other than feature new makeup every day, what has this kid done to warrant a cover story?”
“…and the story that takes down our website is Adam Lambert’s breakup with his boyfriend? This is unreal. How shallow have we become?”
“Give me a break. This award is presented to whoever can fill the seats and make money for GLAAD at its annual fundraising dinner.”
The editorial spawned a rebuttal defending Adam Lambert from Associate Publisher Jason Parsley, and a statement from Editor in Chief Gideon Grudo. Below are snippets from several emails we received in the days following Kent’s piece.

Carol, you keep us so informed on “our Man” He is the most talented and professional performer and his fans would follow him anywhere. as I have since American Idol. I am proud to be Glambert. One day maybe I can meet him in person.

How could anyone think Adam is unworthy of anything. Putting his looks aside (and he is incredably good looking), but he also has an out of this world voice and seems to be able to sing anything. I see nothing but good things in the future for this very talents man, not kid. Shame on you Norm Kent. But, this is Ameria and we are all entitled to our own opinions, even if we don’t agree. I’m glad I’m not Mr. Kent. The hate mail he has got to be receiving! ! !
I love Adam! I have loved him since the first day I laid eyes on him! I loved him after I found out he was gay! I still love him. And I always will. I do not appreciate what the stupid editors of Norm Kents said. They just need to shut up if they do not have anything good to say! LOVE YOU ADAM ~ FOREVER! Sherry K
I have already written a comment on the last post you gave us Carol. This Norm really is a jealous A hole. Adam deserves this award and much more for all he has done. This
makes me sick. Imagine how ADAM feels…. I did not know that Adam and his boyfriend broke up. What happened????? Does anyone know??? So not only is ADAM going through a breakup and now this too. My heart goes out to this wonderful man(ADAM) and now norm kent is now putting him through more crap.

Hi Glamily friends…let’s do a drive to help Adam’s sales of Trespassing….If you have a friend with a bd, need to get mom a cd (if she is cool she will love it), or any other reason to buy a gift…give Trespassing as a present. I gave his cd to my friend who is a huge country music fan…she absolutely loved it and so did her husband (also a country music fan). I gave one to my friend in Canada who love R and B and James Taylor…she loves it…You should not judge…just give anyone who loves a truly gifted singer this cd…they will love it. Let’s pump up his sales…also request him on your radio stations.

I so agree with you. What the hell is the problem? With all of us buying and promoting Adam to everyone we know, you’d think he’d be selling enough to be played on the radio. I hear the same artists over and over. Is it sales or is it his management? Wish I knew!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vonnie, I agree with both you and Kathy! I want to know what the hell is the problem too! Adam has tons of women fans! And I think they are jealous of him? I would like to hear Adam on the radio too! But I guess I am stuck with my ipod. I have him all over the place on it! I will call my radio station. But doubt if it helps any! And I agree with what Jackie said too! LOVE YOU ADAM!
Did anyone else get a glimpse of Adam in the audience tonight of Dancing with the Stars? It was sad to see him in the audience and not on the stage. I would love to see him performing again on Leno, Ellen and the other talk shows. Will this ever happen again?
