In a phrase:  full of angst.  And I LOVE IT!  Once again, Adam delivers in this new video for “Whataya Want From Me.”  I would say that he is an excellent actor, except I think he really feels the emotions in this song from the depths of his soul.  Maybe no acting required.  What do you think?  Enjoy!  -Dana, Glamb #6

Reality Rocks’ Lindsey Parker has written a great piece on Whattya Want From Me?, Adam Lambert’s just-released second video from his album For Your Entertainment. Read the first part here, then follow the link for the entire piece, including the video.

Fame costs, as Fame’s Debbie Allen once warned with an emphatic tap of her cane. Sure, with fame comes the attention and adoration of millions. But sometimes that attention is unwanted, and sometimes it is even cruel. Perhaps no one lately has learned this harsh lesson more quickly than American Idol’s Adam Lambert, who only a year ago was just another aspiring singer with a dream, another struggling unknown talent hoping for his big break.
That big break obviously came in the form of Idol, which brought him the superstardom he (and everyone else who auditions for the show) craved. But in a classic case of “be careful what you wish for,” along with his sudden success came an army of stalkers, paparazzi goons, and Twitterers who now follow and overanalyze his every YSL-booted move.
The complete and utter relinquishment of one’s privacy is something that every famous person must deal with, of course–and considering all the perks that come with stardom, it’s hard to feel too sorry for celebrities. But for Idols, the experience can be especially exhausting, due to the intense enthusiasm of the show’s fanbase (viewers seem to feel like they know the Idols personally) and the swiftness of the kind of fame that comes from being broadcast into millions of living rooms for months.
And if the Idol in question is someone who’s had to deal with constant scrutiny of his sexuality (controversy over same-sex smooches or “risqué” Halloween drag-costume photos, simultaneous accusations of being “too gay” or “not gay enough,” etc.), it must be even more difficult to lead any semblance of a normal life. Not that someone as absolutely fabulous as Adam Lambert ever wanted a boring “normal” life anyway, but you get the idea.

People have been hard at work for the last 36 hours making sure this site stays devoted to Adam. I guess you can’t get enough of him. Well, I can’t either! It’s back to All Adam All The Time!! (Am I forgiven?!?)

Some others have been hard at work making some great remixes of For Your Entertainment. You all enjoyed the remixes I posted of his American Idol songs, so I’m sure you’re going to enjoy this too!

These remixes were supplied by Adam’s brother Neil, via Twitter. Thanks Neil!!

Time for all Adam fans to start cheering again! It is the end of the week, meaning that the updated sales numbers for last week are released. After Adam sold 198,466 in his first week (#3), 50,999 in his second week (#22), and about 46,000 in his third week (#30).. he closes off his first month with an amazing 37% increase compared to last week and leaps up three places in the sales ranking, to #27!

Total sales for this week got a boost because of the holiday season, and probably his appearances on So You Think You Can Dance and Chelsea Lately paid off.. and this reflects in a total sales of 62,623 albums, breaking the 350,000 barrier in his cumulative total while reaching a total sales number of 358,088 for his first month!!!

This surely exceeds expectations and it looks like Adam’s heading towards Gold status in his second month (for which total sales of 500,000 are needed) and might have a good shot of going platinum in the long run! Especially now that he is still appearing on Jay Leno tonight, and since his single is finally taking off, the album can be reasonably expected to keep selling well! :)

Speaking about the single.. Billboard.com tweeted about a sneak preview to its updated rankings (available on thursday), and guess who they mentioned as one of their biggest gainers?

“Chart Highlights offers a sneak peek at a select group of Billboard charts every Monday. Find out the top songs, Greatest Gainers and debuts on the surveys listed below.” The picture accompanying this article?

The news it brings us?

Pop Songs
*** No. 1 *** “Replay” Iyaz
Greatest Gainer No. 2 “TiK ToK” Ke$ha
Debut No. 35 “Whataya Want From Me” Adam Lambert (pictured above, right)
Debut No. 38 “In My Head” Jason Derulo
Debut No. 39 “Smile” Uncle Kracker

ADAM IS DEBUTING IN THE BILLBOARD RANKINGS AT NUMBER 35! After the holiday freeze, Adam will definitely get more and more airplay and might have a good shot at doing really well with this single! Internationally, FYE is also getting more and more attention, so once Adam starts doing some promotion overseas he’ll most likely find that his style and music will appeal to many across the globe.

So its good news all around just before Christmas! A video coming up, album and single both doing amazingly well.. What more can we ask for? :) Oh, probably a good show on Leno tonight will be nice, too!

AMA Red Carpet

You know what to do, comment below!

Here is what we have all been waiting for, the official ‘For Your Entertainment’ Music Video. This video is HOT!!

For some reason, after watching this video, I like this song so much more (?).

So what do you think about the snake and the band on this video? :) I know you’ve seen pictures of the band before but seeing them in the music video with Adam is a whole different thing.

Is this what you were expecting?

Comment Below.

Below is the video of Adam Lambert’s performance at the AMA:

Note that this video has gotten hard to get a hold off but we have updated it with a current higher quality one.

So did Adam fall and then roll over or was that in purpose?

Was the kiss (with a straight guy) a bit too much?

Adam told Rolling Stones “We’re in 2009; it’s time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people’s eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I’m not for them. My goal was not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.”

He also mentioned that “he didn’t do anything female performers haven’t done on television already.”

Reports about the West Coast broadcast of the American Music Awards indicate that ABC kept the kiss with Lambert’s keyboardist, but cut away from the simulated oral sex with his male backup dancer.

What did YOU think of this performance?

Love it or hate it we know this much so far, EVERYONE is talking about the most shocking performance from Adam to date.

A Lynchburg non-profit is going after a TV network for broadcasting what it calls a “lewd and filthy performance.”

Liberty Counsel has filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission against ABC.

They’re taking issue with Adam Lambert’s controversial number on Sunday’s American Music Awards.

Lambert was seen imitating a sexual act and kissing a male band member while performing a song.

Liberty Counsel is a legal ministry affiliated with Liberty University and its law school.

The group says ABC knew what Lambert was planning to do and even promoted his act as “what everyone will be talking about tomorrow.”

Appearing on the CBS Early Show Wednesday Morning, Lambert says he was trying to prove a point.

Lambert says there is a double standard in entertainment that allows heterosexual female entertainers to get away with provocative performances that he, as a homosexual male, is criticized for.

“I don’t think there’d be nearly as much of an outrage at all,” he said. “I think it’s because I’m a gay male and people haven’t seen that before.”

Here is a press release issued by Liberty Counsel:

“Washington, D.C. – Liberty Counsel has filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission against the American Broadcasting Company (”ABC”) for airing an outrageously lewd and filthy performance by Adam Lambert on November 22, 2009 during the 2009 American Music Awards. Among other things, Lambert simulated oral sex, simulated digital penetration, simulated sadomasochistic conduct and engaged in homosexual open-mouth kissing.

Prior to going on-air, Lambert explained that his motive went beyond performing. According to the Associated Press, Lambert “wanted to break down a double standard that existed where female performers are often sexually provocative while men don’t do it that often.”

ABC’s reaction was to promote Lambert’s indecent acts. While the network edited portions of another performer’s number for the West Coast’s viewing, only one small portion of Lambert’s performance was removed. ABC actually teased and touted the rest of his actions as “what everyone will be talking about tomorrow.” This shows that it was Lambert’s obscene sexual conduct, not his vocal performance that ABC used to promote its show.

Those wishing to contact ABC about this decision can write to ABC, Inc., 500 S. Buena Vista Street, Burbank, CA 91521. ABC can also be reached by calling (818) 460-7477, or you may contact ABC on the web at Audience Relations Department.

Anita L. Staver, President of Liberty Counsel, remarked: “The performance by Adam Lambert clearly crossed the line. ABC should be held accountable for airing this indecent and offensive performance. ABC promoted Lambert’s performance to boost its ratings. Now ABC should have to pay a hefty penalty to the FCC for assaulting its viewers with a debased performance by Adam Lambert.”

This is the actual complaint they filed with the FCC.

Watch Adam talk to SIRIUS XM’s Larry Flick about one of the tracks off his new album, “For Your Entertainment” written for him by Muse.

Adam says he has a polarizing effect — and he’s really glad to have that. “Eccentric, weird and nuts,” is how he describes his new album — and “I was just interpreting the lyrics of the song” he talks more about his controversial AMAs performance.

Adam Lambert says he suffered from “ugly duckling syndrome” but learned to love himself anyway.

Adam talks about mixing the masculine with the femenine.

How does one person manages to have so many interviews and make each one so interesting?

Comment below!

“I’m not an artist that does things for every single person”

Must see Interview with Adam Lambert from Access Hollywood regarding Adam’s performance during the American Music Awards.

A lot of people got upset with Adam’s AMA performance, that’s already old news. Adam claims that mostly everyone took his past performance too seriously. More details on the video below:

I personally think that all Adam was trying to do was to interpret his own lyrics. As you watch his performance, think about them:

“Push the limit
Are you with it?
Baby, don’t be afraid”

“Let’s go
It’s my show
Baby, do what I say”

“Oh, do you know what you got into?
Can you handle what I’m ’bout to do?
‘Cause it’s about to get rough for you”

“Oh, I bet you thought that I was soft and sweet
‘Ya fallen angel swept ya off ya feet
Well I’m about to turn up the heat”

Can Adam be his own artist or should he have to conform to society’s expectations?

Can Adam become the ‘male Madonna’ ?

Positive Reviews are actually coming out from different sources and he is winning in most polls:

“The man is a phenomenal, ferocious talent – and THAT will be the punctuation at the end of the sentence when all the digital-ink is done spilling over this HOOPLA. He took the breath away from the collective audience in the room. It was totally Rock & Roll and the most authentic energy up on that stage all night (with the possible exception of Ga Ga). That performance was in-the-moment anarchy of the best kind. Finally – something interesting happening in pop culture. THANK YOU ADAM.”

I just loved this phrase written by Adam Graham, Detroit News Pop Music Writer, so I made it the title of this blog post.  It is so true!  I appreciated reading Graham’s fair and balanced assessment of Adam’s upcoming album, and thought you might enjoy it too.  Dana, Glamb #6

What, you expected subtlety?

Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” is every bit the boffo, glam-rock, disco-pop space oddity you’d expect from the “American Idol” standout. It’s a bold, assured, boot-stomping romp, and it’s so over-the-top it should come packaged in a mirror ball.

For his fans, this won’t come as a surprise. Lambert hit the “American Idol” stage earlier this year like a transplant from the planet Glampire: David Bowie funneled through Edward Cullen. Over the course of the show, he proved to be the most exciting “Idol” contestant in years, with a fearlessness stemming from years of stage experience and a shocking caterwaul that could strip the paint off walls.

He also demonstrated his dexterity across a number of genres, whether vamping through Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” or quietly emoting in a beautiful rendition of Smokey Robinson’s “The Tracks of My Tears.” In what may have been his signature performance, he gave a psycho-sexual, Middle Eastern-influenced reading of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” that would have had the Man in Black either rolling in his grave or rolling with laughter.

He brings that same go-for-broke spirit to “For Your Entertainment,” which despite sharing a name with a national chain of record stores, proves to be an apropos summation of Lambert’s M.O. “Let me entertain you ’til you scraaaaay-eeeee-aaaaaaayyy-eeeeeee-aaaYYYYYYY-eeeeeee-AAAYYYYMM!” he bellows on the title track, somehow cramming every musical note into one banshee wail.

If the goal is to entertain, he succeeds, as there’s rarely a dull moment on “FYE.” Some moments are less effective than others — “Aftermath” is the kind of “keep pushing on” claptrap every “Idol” album seems to be saddled with, and the album is frontloaded with one too many Gary Glitter clones — but no one can accuse Lambert of holding back.

Credit Team Lambert for pairing him with a host of top-notch, like-minded collaborators, from Lady Gaga (who wrote the daring “Fever”) and Pink (who lent a hand to “Whataya Want from Me”) to the Darkness’ Justin Hawkins (whose proficiency for arena rock cheese is slathered over opener “Music Again”) and interstellar English rockers Muse (lead singer Matthew Bellamy wrote “Soaked”).

A-list hitmakers Dr. Luke (the pulsating title track), Linda Perry (the moody, spacey “A Loaded Smile”) and Max Martin (potential single “If I Had You”) weigh in, as well. And Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo proves an unlikely partner-in-crime on the joyful “Pick U Up,” a bouncy club-rocker with walls of trickling synths laid underneath the fist-pumping chorus.

Lambert is a pot-stirrer — the fetching spaceboy album cover is evidence of that — and the album has an in-your-face, unapologetic sexuality. Plenty can be read into lines such as “Open your mouth and open it wide: Let the freedom begin” (”Strut”). “Fever,” meanwhile, opens with, “there he goes, my baby walks so slow, sexual tic-tac-toe,” which is bound to raise an eyebrow or two from “Idol’s” more conservative fan base.

Lambert’s greatest asset is, of course, his crazy vocal range, which can soar to dizzying heights but easily lends itself to overkill.

On the album, he displays control over his voice that he didn’t on “Idol,” and he doesn’t over-rely on histrionics. He stays reigned in at times (such as on the electronic outer space ballad “Broken Open”) and lets it go when need be.

“FYE” also sparkles with a welcome sense of humor: “My baby clothes made of leather and lace,” Lambert sings amid the wild rumpus of “Sure Fire Winners,” the best and most unhinged of the album’s T. Rex-style glam throwdowns. And he lets out a gleeful laugh at the close of “Pick U Up,” a refreshing reminder that yes, this is all meant to be fun.

It goes without saying that “For Your Entertainment” is the most poised debut from any “Idol” to date. Lambert has a vision and has successfully honed a sound that pays homage to his heroes while carving a niche for himself.

More than anything, “For Your Entertainment” bares the stamp of a born entertainer. So sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
