Now that the United States, Australia and Asia have caught their breath from witnessing one of the most amazing tours ever, the next leg has begun. Queen + Adam Lambert opened in Newcastle Arena last night, showing why they’re so deserving of their recent Rock honors!

And the reviews are glowing! The Guardian declares “this show succeeds because of Adam Lambert, not despite him.” ChronicleLIVE reports ”lovers of Queen, showed their appreciation of the new band member with piercing screams and cheers. And this magnificent showman deserved every one of them.” “A new line-up … but still Killer Queen” reports Mirror. Hartlepool Mail definitively capped it off with ”The Queen is dead. Long live the Queen.”
Here’s the opening (courtesy of Rock Licks Guitar Tuition) that got Britain’s heart pumping. One Vision followed by I Want It All and Another One Bites the Dust. Even though he’s in the familiar George Michael flavored attire, Adam seems to be owning more of the songs, putting stronger spin on the melodies.
In the following 14-minute video also provided by Rock Licks Guitar Tuition, I get the feeling Adam was still backstage changing into his new Scottish plaid pants while Brian, Roger and the rest were hitting measure after measure of Tie Your Mother Down. Was this an extended intro or was he avoiding a wardrobe dilemma, reminiscent of Fantasy Springs Two? I get a stronger feeling of an opening night snag when Adam does an uncharacteristic move at 10:21. You’ll have to check this one out for yourself and let me know what you think. Watch as Brian starts solo with melody from Last Horizon leading into Brighton Rock ending with Tie Your Mother Down.

2015 has already gotten off to a great start!
