Adam Lambert’s Broadway debut as Emcee in Cabaret has been reviewed by MickeyJoTheatre, and it’s a great one!

He makes several comparisons to the previous star, Eddie Redmayne. Redmayne won the 2022 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance and also received a Tony nomination. The only thing even slightly negative about Adam was that he felt Eddie Redmayne’s acting was slightly more detailed, nuanced and layered (11:14) “but it’s so deceptively charming that it sets us up for that gut punch . . . “. He reveled over Adam’s ad libs. He doesn’t think he’s heard any of the other 9 or 10 actors he’s see playing the lead, ad lib as much. “He brings this crowd pleasing quality where he really helps foster delight in the room…” He also talks about Adam’s rapport with the other company members.
And then he gets to the vocals! He feels Adam is “one of the foremost vocalists that we currently have in the music industry” so his review will delight Glamberts, telling us what we’ve known for 15 years. He tells us “Eddie is undoubtedly an actor first” when he relays what some have said about Eddie’s vocals, that he sounded “a little like Kermit the Frog!”
Others who have played the role are Raúl Esparza, Neil Patrick Harris, Adam Pascal, and John Stamos.
Love ya!
