Way back in May 2009, when the most important thing in my world was for people to get the message that we needed to Vote For Adam, I decorated my car window. I figured this would be a great way to get the message across.
I got so many honks and thumbs up signs from fellow drivers, that I was sure I’d made some impact, if only to put a smile on the San Diego freeways. When I would come out to my car in a parking lot, there was always someone there pointing to my car, and asking me if I knew Adam.
At the Homecoming at the radio station, my car was parked right where Adam HAD to see it when he entered in his limo, as long as he was looking in the right direction. The reporters at the station made sure they photographed it, and pictures of it ended up on the station’s web site.
Then the earth shook. Voting results were released and my car was behind-the-times. My son and husband were sure I’d remove the sign entirely, but oh no, not this fan. I had something more I wanted to say. Judging by the responses I still got from other drivers, I knew I wasn’t alone.
When the Tour Concerts were over, I knew I had to make another change. I had to let go of Idol as Adam was embracing his career and starting on his blistering romp of turning ears and eyes. My son (who is using my car to commute to college with) was begging me at this point to take the sign down. He was groaning about “how hard it was to meet girls when the back of your car is a testament to Adam Lambert!” I had sympathy for him, and agreed to make a change. Thankfully, he supplied me with my next and still-to-this-day current homage. Even my husband could approve, seeing as how it’s “business-related.” I’m still working on getting our words about Adam out to the public. And people are still asking me if I know Adam!
Just to throw a little icing on this sweet piece, my dear friend Lila, another Fan Leader on this web site, did me one better!
