She didn’t expect to fall in love

You know what Laura… neither did we.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of album reviews out there, but there is something about this one that resonates with me. Here’s what she has to say about my favorite track on the album… Kickin’ In.

And then there’s “Kickin’ In.” I can’t say enough about this song; it completely kicks my ass. Heavy ’80s vocal influences (stuttered, repeating, modified) mixed with a rapid-fire refrain delivery and nonstop, dance-inducing beat make this one of the best party songs you’ll hear all year. Lambert’s high-pitched, full-throated “No, no, no” is the cherry on the sundae.”

  1. I’ve read this and what’s amazing is it’s a review from someone who does not know ADAM. And she liked every track!!! IF ONLY, others would give themselves the chance to listen to this truly amazing album. POPDUST also says it is the BEST Pop Album.

  2. Oh, please vote for ADAM on Billboard’s Music SEXIEST Male. You can keep on voting. Results on June 11. And keep viewing and refreshing NCOE on Vevo and bring it to millions more. Thanks.

  3. Kickin In is crazy good! This looks like it will be Adam’s year. That means that it will our year, also. His fans love him so much and he deserves it!

It is an exciting year for sure. I love seeing Adam performing his new songs. I love his live performances he is so sexy and bring an added life. To his music. Just wish I could go to England to see him with Queen. That will truly be EPIC.

  5. When I read this review yesterday, I couldn’t stop smiling. Also, wishing that all who love music could discover this album and be astounded by the gem that it is. That means -radio play-which strangely, still doesn’t seem to be happening. But I’m not giving up hope. I truly believe that Adam’s talent, charisma and beautiful voice cannot be ignored for much longer. Now he’s off to London and let’s see him do his magic on that stage with Brian and Roger!
Thank you for all you do on this site for all of us who love Adam.

  6. Adam is Epic all in his self being. I just recieved his latest album. To which I will start playing non stop till the next album comes out and so fourth. 🙂

  7. Another one bites the dust (lol)! I love it that all of this happened to her on her first ever listen to his album – wait until she sees him live!!! One of the reviews I read said something to the effect that Adam can make mediocre songs sound good when he performs live – which is absolutely true, but Kickin’ In and Shady along with Underneath and Outlaws of love are all great songs and TRESPASSING is a great album ! All those smiles he’s beaming from the stage say that he knows it – “wait ’til you get a load of me.”” Yay…….

How can we get more air play for Tresspassing’s singles? I have yet to hear either “Better Than I Know Myself” or “Never Close Our Eyes” on any NY or NJ station.

    • That seems to be THE question! When DJs are asked this question, they say that requests generate airplay … but it’s a Catch 22, since -aside from hardcore fans- many haven’t HEARD the singles, since the singles are not PLAYED enough for people to become familiar with them … and -therefore- they don’t know to REQUEST it. Very frustrating.

I guess that music from the “usual suspects” (Katy, GaGa, Bruno, Kelly) gets played because everyone assumes that whatever music they come out with will be worth listening to. Their music is played “right out of the gate,” where other artists’ music seems to have to be “vetted.”

  9. Hey you guys, “get it on” and lets have a lot of airplay on radio, TV, DVD’s, etc. of all of Adam’s music!!!! It’s all GREAT and would do wonders for the billions or more people who haven’t had a chance too see or hear him yet!!! Come on help us out here!!!! Love forever and a day, Rita Norton and Donna Levi and hopefully billion and billions more!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 Rock. Pop, and Dance On!!!

  10. I’m a sucker for an inspirational story about “falling in love” (even if it’s with an artist and his music!), when it was not anticipated! That’s one of the best kinds of surprises in life! Laura’s review is especially cool, since it wasn’t written by an already-smitten Adam Lambert fan, who (let’s face it; we can’t help ourselves) can’t seem to find much wrong with Adam, his voice, his persona, his music or his influence on us.

The fact that Laura entered this “assignment” expecting little, and seemed to be transformed into an unwitting fan by immersing herself into the hypnotic waters that are Adam’s music makes her glowing critique that much more special!

I just got raped but bought tickets to the OC fair Concert. Who else is going?? Are you all planning a meeting. I missed you all at the last OC concert. I never could find the wine bar or just wasn’t there at the right time.

  12. Paula in San Diego says:

Yesssss! Another convert! Now if we can just get the radio stations to play NCOE!!! Thanks for sharing the great review, Lila!

  13. Gwendolyn says:

57 year old Adam fan here, followed him on Idol and was blown away by his talent and sexy personality/charisma.
His vocal range is amazing, and I love the songs where his voice soars (usually the ballads.)
The techno pop is good too—Gets your energy up.
He is a unique talent, I always look forward to what he does.
Saw him in concert twice–Once for Idol, once for the Glam Tour, and part of his power
and our pleasure in viewing him his how well he presents himself on stage, and connects
to the audience. He seems to enjoy what he does, and like the crowd, and I don’t
get a sense of rampaging ego from his interviews—He seems pretty grounded and “real”.
Long may he rock! I love him the same way I used to love Freddie Mercury—the “unattainable”
rock-god, soaring voiced sexy males that live to thrill us with their talent!

  14. CAROLEE says:

OKAY ALL GLAMBERTS…WE SAY WE LOVE ADAM.. WE SAY HOW GREAT TRESPASSING IS AND YET ONLY 112,000 ALBUMS (+-) SO FAR. WE GOT #1 AND THAN FELL TO #46 ON BB200 THAT’S EMBRASSING, MAYER IS ON HIS 2ND WEEK!!!. THERE ARE OVER A MILLION WHO FOLLOW HIM ON TWITTER, WHERE ARE THEY???IF WE WANT A FANTASTIC TOUR, IF WE WANT A GRAMMY WIN, IF WE WANT TOTAL SUCCESS FOR ADAM….LET’S START A BUYING CAMPAIGN…I DON’T HAVE A CLUE HOW TO GET IT ROLLING….SO SUGGEST….A TWITTER CAMPAIGN????

  15. I think that it could possibly be along the lines of what your thikning, because to succeed in this industry he has to sing songs from the mindset of a heterosexual male, I think that it’s the pressure of a regular relationship, i mean everyone knows that no couple goes without a once off fight or whatever, but I think it’s that as well as being thrust, so suddenly as Adam Lambert has been, into this industry of cameras and lights and people all over you. That’s what i think.
