My Glam Nation Experience In Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Tomorrow will mark the one week anniversary of my Glam Nation experience. I simply cannot get back into the real swing of things yet either!! This is the second time I am sitting down to write this, as the first time my power outage erased it before I was done adding the pictures, grr.

My first show was the Milwaukee, Wisconsin show last Tuesday night. We had a great crowd show up for dinner at The Rock Bottom Brewery which was literally right around the corner from the venue. Thanks to Ellen G. for using her name for the reservation and for everyone there for hanging with us. It was great to see everyone including Carol, my co-writer here, at dinner too! She hopped on a plane to come out for the two Glam Nation shows out here. This was the show that I was able to bring my daughter Jess to, along with our friend Jenny. In Ellen’s group was our mutual friend Janet, whom Ellen and I met through our Illinois Glamb group, Carol, and Ellen’s sister!!
We had a great gathering of friends for this leg of the journey.

The venue was really very beautiful inside, and our seats were in the second row of the balcony. We had a great view looking down on the stage. Thankfully, you have already seen most of the pictures from our friend Haley, because I didn’t get very many good ones. Once we were sitting, we realized that the indoor temperature was sooo hot. The air was not working so we were sweating before the show even started. Once the show began though, it got way hotter. Allison and Orianthi did a great job, and then we were given the greatest gift of all, Adam. Everything about the show was spectacular, from the costumes, to the dancers, to the band, and especially the vocals from Adam. He was spot on once again, and seeing him “live” is such an emotional experience. The way he takes you on a journey from song to song, is second to none. As soon as the first note of the show began, we were transfixed by everything that was going on on that stage. The way he uses the lights and the lasers, it is a visual celebration. I have to say, I LOVED If I Had You!! Just the little speech he gives, and introducing all the friends that are close to him, and the meaning of the song is just the total package for me. We were up and dancing and singing along for the majority of the show!! Unfortunately, just as quickly as it began, it was over…

After escaping to the outdoors for some cool night air, we were walking past the busses on the street and saw that they had barricades lining up along the alleyway. We decided to stop and watch them come out. As his dancer’s began the walk to the busses, we could see that it was going to be hard to see any of them up close, so we ran acroos the street to where the busses were actually parked. This turned out to be the smartest thing we ever could have done. After a few minutes, Tommy was walking right towards us so I asked him if he would mind taking a picture with Jess, from Oprah?? His eyes went wide and he was so excited to see her again, it was awesome!! He was asking her questions about that whole day, and then he let us get a great picture of the two of them. He also took pictures with us that aren’t quite as cute because we look like old lady stalkers, haha, but it was fun nonetheless.

At that point, he had to get on the bus so we waited patiently to see who would be next. As we stood there, we were approached by OLGA and JILL, who always contribute comments on our site, and whom also attended the Oprah show!!! I am so glad they spotted us because they didn’t meet up with us at the taping, so it was fun to finally meet them. They did a great write up for us on THEIR Oprah experience that we posted, do you guys remember?? We took pictures together as well and it was awesome to meet them. Jill and I were discussing the power of the mother/daughter bond when out came Monte!! Now, we decided to do the same thing, to push the pretty 15 year old at him to get his attention. As we asked him if we could take a picture of him with Jess from Oprah, he said, “JESS, AND SUE!!”. AAAAGH, HE REMEMBERED US TOO!!!! We all were laughing and telling him that he was awesome for remembering us, and he pretended to swing a baseball bat like he had just hit one out of the park. He was very proud of himself for remembering too!! At this point, he told the security guard that he was safe and that he could leave him with us, haha. He was great about taking pictures, and he was teasing Jess about how since she wasn’t crying this time, he could always get her to cry by taking her away to see… nah he wouldn’t do that. Totally cute. We talked about his new twins and I told him to make sure and pay attention because before long they will be Jess’ age, and he looked at her and shook his head like that was all too overwhelming for him to believe. He then spent some time with Olga and Jill, and we then realized by the screaming that Adam was walking to his bus. Unfortunately, we were at the back end of the bus that he got on so we didn’t get up close, but the other guys made up for that in a huge way. Thank you Tommy and Monte for a great night all around, and I hope you all enjoy my few pictures.

P/S~This is a regular work day for me so I will post about Hammond hopefully by tomorrow, darned “real life”…

  1. Hello 🙂

Nice review you have about the show, glad to hear you had fun!

I run a gallery site of Tommy, I wonder if you would give me permission to post your pics over there. I will put a credit to you and link back to your site. Here is my site : http://tjrpics.livejournal.com/

I hope to hear from you 🙂

  2. Sue, I’m going to kill you for not letting us know you were doing this!!! I know, you had know idea it was going to happen! It would have been great to spend some more time with Tommy and Monte. I spent the day with them at Monte’s wife’s baby shower, and would have loved seeing them again. But on a high note, Monte saw me in the first row at Hammond, and gave me a few big smiles and nods while he was playing that night. That, and seeing Adam from 4 feet away has made that trip a 1 million point success. Of course seeing you and Ellen again was a major part of that feeling too. I’ll get my Hammond story up ASAP. I’ve got great videos and pix to post too.

    Love ya!
    Carol

Looking forward to your next installment

  6. linlivalex says:

You are right, Sue, he was spot-on the whole show in Milwaukee! My son and I were 6 rows from the front and we swore he pointed right at me during Music Again. I was a liitle worried because during the show from a few days earlier, you could tell on the videos that he was singing everything in a lower key and I thought we might miss those awesome high notes. But they were right there–every time they needed to be!!! There is nothing like seeing him so close to the stage. We tried hard to get good pictures, but many people kept coming up from the back and rudely stood in front of us for much of the concert.
We happened to be the first ones to just come upon the barrier tight by the door of HIS bus, so we got to see him VERY close and I touched him several times. We had an awesome security guy who told me he make sure I got to touch him and he sure took care of me!!! My husband was sitting in the car right by where you were talking to Tommy and Monte and he talked to them for a second and said he saw you there. I told him he should have gotten out of the car and introduced himself, but he said he didn’t want to intrude.
I will see you at Mandalay Bay in July–hopefully we will have more time to chat then! (I wonder what it’s like seeing him form the wave pool?!?)
    Linda

    • lovemyadam says:

Linda, I am sorry to hear about the rude people!! BUT way to go on the outside story!! That is awesome!! How funny that your hubby was right there, and he should have said hi!!
Cannot wait until July… we will need to share plans… email me!! Cell numbers too so we can text while there…

We got to meet Adam last year after the Idol show in Columbus, he was so sweet and attentive to us and yes I am one of those crazy twitter stalkers so I have followed Adam on twitter since last summer. I met a lovely lady on twitter and she had box seats in box 1 at the Glam Nation Columbus stop and she invited me and my friend to share the box with her and her son. We were right by the stage on the 2nd level and when Adam sang If I Had You we saw him look over our way and he walked right over and pointed directly at us, it was sooo amazing. Love your comments and your pictures. I remember Jess from Oprah and I would have passed out if Adam came in the room singing to me too. Thanks again.

    • lovemyadam says:

OOOOOHH you lucky girls!!! Isn’t that amazing to see him???
Jess was beside herself, that is for sure…

  12. Thanks for sharing. A girlfriend and I are going to Seattle to see Adam on July 20th. My friend has not been to Seattle and I grew up there, so it will be fun showing her around the city. We are making it a 2 nite, 3 day event. Kind of a minnie vacation away from home, driving in from Spokane WA. We are game for anything happening that nite/day of the concert. It should be a very good/interesting show. Can’t wait to see what he is going to do on the stage. I know we will also enjoy the opening shows as well. May be a long nite, I think we will be having a bit of trouble unwinding after the show. We may be looking for a karokee bar on the 19th (which is monday) maybe nothing will be open. Got to let off some steam by singing a few songs. Someplace new, fun and exciting. You all know how it goes.

  15. Hi Sue, Met you for dinner before the show in Milwaukee. You are right, it was amazing, stupendous, faboulous, every other -ous you can think of. Adam was amazing and right on
in all his vocals. i could not take my eyes off him the whole time he was on stage. Anyway, as I was driving home, I thought about the evening and performance and wrote the following blog about my experience. By the way, I just got tickets to see him again in Atlanta with my sister, who is also a big fan-not as big as I am however. So excited that I get to go again. LOL My story for the evening:

Adam’s GlamNation Tour, Milwauke, WI, June 14, 2010
Well It finally arrived, the day I’ve been waiting for. I get to see Adam’s “Glam Nation” concert. I got the ticket several weeks ago and have been planning my “glam” look ever since. I went on line and searched for appropriate t-shirts or other apparel, goth jewelry, leather fingerless gloves, shoes, er boots, etc. I found an amazing shirt with the “Eye of Horus” and Adam’s name on it in glitter. Had it made in purple. Found cute black leggings with an awesome design in rhinestones on the left leg. Went on a three day search for the right bling to adorn it with, necklaces, yes plural, bracelets, and earrings. Got these great giant hoop earrings with rhinestones all around. Bought blue hair extensions, dark blue glitter nail polish, purple and blue eye shadow, and found a great eye liner in black with glitter!
So today, I began getting ready for the “big nite”. Couldn’t hardly wait. Meeting other “glam-ettes” for
dinner before the show. So I slowly and methodically put on my glam make-up, fixed my hair and added the blue extension, put on my beautiful purple Adam shirt, and began layering necklaces. Six or seven all together was the final total to make the look complete. Went through my ring collection (I love rings) and picked out the ones that I felt complemented my outfit, filled 7 fingers with bling. Had picked out some glittery thong sandals to wear, but the day had turned cold and rainy, so they did not seem right, besides my feet would get wet and then be cold. I decided I should stop somewhere and find a great pair of boots, which I fortunately was able to do rather quickly. They were knee high black patent leather with that sort of combat look to them. They completed the outfit in my opinion. (I Did get several compliments on them!) I felt like a million bucks, a queen of glam, ready to meet the Glam God of Rock.
I drove to Milwaukee and the Riverside Theater. Found parking not too far away, and then met other “Glamberts” for dinner. They were very nice ladies from all over the place, with the same obsession I have-ADAM. As we finished our meal, one by one, each lady got up and headed for the concert! Including me! It was everything I hoped for and more. Adam has a magnificent voice and it came through loud and sweet and clear. Those beautiful “screams” which are always musical and not just noise were amazing. His outfits, of course, were glitzy and awesome. I stood and sang and danced with my Adam all through the concert. I was fortunate to have two seatmates that stood with me and were as excited as I was. It was a fantastic evening. Then as quickly as he popped on, Adam waved good night and left. Left us all breathless and excited and in total AWE of the talent and timing and poise he possesses. As I left the theater, I was overcome with a sense of extreme joy and a touch of sadness that the night was over. I drove home and listen to FYI all the way pondering the evening.
I went into my bathroom and as I took off all my glam, I suddenly felt like Cinderella after the ball. I had a beautiful evening and now had turned back into the housewife, er, domestic goddess that I am. Thank the universe for computers. I can always see Adam performing whenever I push a few magic buttons.

    • lovemyadam says:

Angie it was great to meet you, thanks for coming to dinner with us!!
I loved you outfit, especially the purple shirt!! You rocked the glam, my friend!!

  17. Hi Sue,
Thanks for your great picture and posts. Lots of great info!
How do you do it? I have tickets for the Norfolk show although I live in the Baltimore/DC area. I’ve been trying to win meet and greet tickets for my area (Sun 6/27) sold out show! If I can’t get tickets to the show I will still hang out after near the busses. Maybe I’ll get lucky! Any suggestions, anybody??

It was SOOOO NICE to see you guys! I loved out little time together! Jess is beautiful, no wonder the guys remember you both! You took some great pictures, it’s always great to see Adam from any angle!
You are so right about Monte, he was very thoughtful and spent a good chunk of his time with us! Yeah, didn’t it feel special, when he let the security guard go saying that he was with friends now?
    Love to All!

    Olga

    • lovemyadam says:

OLGAAAA!!! I hope you had the same feelings I did from that show!!
You guys made Jess feel like a rock star for wanting to take pictures with us, so THANK YOU!!
Thank you for saying she is beautiful, you are so sweet.
We are some LUCKY girls, huh?
Can’t wait to see you again!!

      XOXO~SUE~GLAMB#10

      • SUE!!! & JESS!!! ditto on Olga’s comments above….there was such positive energy in meeting you both ~ all I can say is that it was icing on our adam cake that nite to run in to the 2 of you – yes, we could have kicked ourselves we never met you @Oprah, but apparently God had another plan & brought us together here in Milw where we could take the great photos, hang with the band, and just relish in the electricity of an evening we all know we’ll never forget – memories that we’ll carry with us forever…and as we say in our Milw group of fearless 4 ~ with Adam, it’s not the end, it’s only the beginning!!! we actually joked when we were at Mystic Lake that 40 years from now Adam will still be HOT HOT HOT & we’ll be jet setting in our wheelchairs to see him no matter where he is!!! LOL!! 🙂 now that should put a smile on your face!!! You are both beautiful Sue…Jess gets her smile & light & joy from somewhere – like we said…nothing like the mother / daughter bond…can’t wait to take my Jadyn Grace to see Adam in maybe 8 years…she’s only 2 1/2, but loves him already!! we’re in trouble!! in the most positive way!! Love, Jill 🙂

        • lovemyadam says:

          JILLLL!!
Meeting YOU was very special to us as well. I know how much that day meant to you as well, so it is something we have bonded over! Milwaukee will now be the beginning of a new chapter in our Adam book,.
I am smiling about the wheelchairs, because it cracked me up to see my friend and I in our pics and then to see JESS in the pics really hit home how old we are already, lol!! I wish I had brought the pics from Oprah for you guys to be able to see, the look on Jess’ face throughout the whole thing was priceless!! Talk about beautiful!!
Aww, thank you for being so sweet, you guys are just as beautiful!!
There is no trouble where Adam is involved, trust me!!!

          XOXO~SUE~GLAMB#10

      • Sua,

    Hi Sue!

These pictures are awesome!! Every single detail of that night in Milwaukee is etched into my mind forever! We were waiting at the front end of the bus for an hour and a half and it was so worth the wait. I didn’t get my coveted one on one with Adam but I was close enough (arm’s length) to get a quick scribble. To just be holding something he was holding at the same time did it for me! Oh how I wish I could have gotten eye contact!

I want to go to Rockford too but didn’t get tickets. I’m still working on my plan… 😉
