Glam Nation-Nashville, Tennessee 07/07/2010

Let us think back a little over a year ago, and who would have thought that Adam Lambert and his Glam Nation would take over the Ryman Auditorium??
Not even Adam himself would have believed it, but that is EXACTLY what happened last night in Nashville, Tennessee. I have given you guys some history behind the Ryman Auditorium, as well as some interviews and of course, the beloved videos!!
Take note in the “Performer’s” section that Adam is already listed, yayayayayay!

Due to the history of this theater, I pulled some wickipedia information to quench your curiosity:

The auditorium first opened as the Union Gospel Tabernacle in 1892. It was built by Thomas Ryman (1843–1904), a riverboat captain and Nashville businessman who owned several saloons. Ryman conceived of the auditorium as a tabernacle for the influential revivalist Samuel Porter Jones.[3] After Ryman’s death, the Tabernacle was renamed Ryman Auditorium in his honor. Famous builder “Mark Ludwig” designed the structure.

It was used for Grand Ole Opry broadcasts from 1943 until 1974, when the Opry built a larger venue just outside Nashville at the Opryland USA theme park. The Ryman then sat mostly vacant and fell into disrepair until 1992 when Emmylou Harris and her band, the Nash Ramblers, performed a series of concerts there (the results of which appeared on her album At the Ryman). The Harris concerts renewed interest in restoring the Ryman, and it was reopened as an intimate performance venue and museum in 1994. Audiences at the Ryman find themselves sitting in pews, the 1994 renovation notwithstanding. The seating is a reminder of the auditorium’s origins as a house of worship, hence giving it the nickname “The Mother Church of Country Music”.

The Ryman Auditorium was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, and was further designated a National Historic Landmark in 2001.[2][4]

Miscellaneous:
~The Ryman Auditorium was the venue for The Johnny Cash Show, which ran on the ABC network from 1969 to 1971.
~The Ryman Auditorium was named Pollstar Magazine’s National Theatre of the Year for both 2003 and 2004, beating out such venues as New York’s Radio City Music Hall and Hollywood’s Gibson Universal Amphitheater.
~Each dressing room behind the stage is dedicated to a legendary performer such as Johnny Cash and Minnie Pearl.
~The visitor tour claims that the Ryman Auditorium has been rated as having the second best acoustics in the world (after the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s home, the Salt Lake Tabernacle).
~When the Grand Ole Opry House opened in 1974, a circle approximately five feet in diameter was removed from the Ryman stage’s original floor and inlaid into the stage floor in the new Opry House where it remains today behind the lead singer’s microphone.
~The Grand Ole Opry currently returns to the Ryman Auditorium annually for a run from November through February.
~Because of the 2010 flooding of the Cumberland River that has rendered the current Grand Ole Opry House temporarily unusable, the Ryman Auditorium will be the primary venue for the Grand Ole Opry when it is available. [5] The Ryman Auditorium was unaffected by the flooding.

Performer’s:
Many country music greats have performed at the Ryman since its inception including the legendary Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, Jim Reeves, Roy Acuff, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Garth Brooks, Patsy Cline, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Emmylou Harris, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Glen Campbell, Reba McEntire, Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton, Marty Robbins, Ernest Tubb, Dottie West, Crystal Gayle, Gretchen Wilson, Willie Nelson, and The Judds.

Besides country, the venue also features alternative, bluegrass, blues, classical, gospel, jazz, pop, folk, and rock, as well as musical theatre and stand-up comedy shows.

Among the countless other artists who have performed on the Ryman stage are Tegan and Sara, Paramore, Cheap Trick, Seal, 70 Volt Parade, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, The Black Crowes, Tallulah Bankhead, Ethel Barrymore, Sarah Bernhardt, Victor Borge, Jackson Browne, Ryan Adams, Damien Rice, Bright Eyes, Fanny Brice, James Brown, The Byrds, Neil Young, Enrico Caruso, Carol Channing, Charlie Chaplin, Kelly Clarkson, Neil Diamond, Ani DiFranco, Bob Dylan, Wilco, Elvis Costello, Oasis, R.E.M., The String Cheese Incident, O.A.R., Hootie & the Blowfish, W. C. Fields, Judy Garland, Betty Grable, Erasure, Helen Hayes, Interpol, Katharine Hepburn, Bob Hope, Anna Pavlova, Norah Jones, Garbage, ZZ Top, Matt Costa, Death Cab for Cutie, Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette, Van Morrison, Robert Plant, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nick Jonas & The Administration, The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Modest Mouse, Belle & Sebastian, Sigur Rós, The New Pornographers, Regina Spektor, The Shins, Sufjan Stevens, Lou Reed, Wayne Newton, Eddie Vedder, B. B. King, Lyle Lovett, Erasure, Neko Case, The Avett Brothers, Adam Lambert, and Coldplay, who released a limited edition autographed poster from their performance there. On January 30, 2003, Patty Griffin recorded her live album A Kiss in Time at the Ryman Auditorium.

Not gonna lie, I am a fan of the glam. Maybe a lot more now that I just kicked it with Adam Lambert for a couple hours at work.

Glambert and I met on stage. The fireworks happened and the energy created was not like any other interview I’ve ever done.
127853154125< We talked of all things Nashville, The Ryman, of course guyliner, his new tattoo he got in Atlanta, and we even busted out into some GaGa karaoke. Eventhough he was a little timid about singing. Stalk the pics. Watch the video. Relive the excitment if you were there, and live it for the first time if you weren't. Whatever you do, just LIVE in the moment! Click here to see all--> 107.5 The River

~3-2-1 ADAM!
~Adam Lambert singing “ring of fire” on the ryman stage. Johnny Cash would approve and probably wear guyliner in support.
~I am sooo hot and bothered. Somebody give me two of him tonight please!?!?!
~I seriously fucking want @adamlambert’s wardrobe. I’ll just pick it up off my floor later. 😉

I can honestly say that Adam has just taken over every inch of my heart, after I read this tweet from him last night.

@adamlambert~Tonights show was dedicated to Mary Lou Moscheo

For those that were not aware of the meaning behind that tweet, here is a message from a friend of mine on facebook:

Comments

  1. Just had time to view the Accostical songs Adam sang last night. I wonder if any old-timers felt like Elvis was in the building? At times he looks so much like him it’s eerie! So happy for his success. I am sure he had some trepitions going to Nashville–country music can be somewhat insular. Sounds like they loved him, as did the Review in USA Today. Feeling is so awesome for his fans, who want him happy! Just a couple more weeks until he hits California. We will give him a GRAND WELCOME!!! Oh, and thanks for the videos–you are our heros!

  2. JRZGRL1 says:

I was there & I really think it was the event of my lifetime. I had seen Adam the night before in Knoxville & he was fabulous beyond words there in the beautiful Tenneessee theater. But he was on FIRE in Nashville (no pun intended) & there was such magic between him & the crowd. He was just glowing. I feel like a part of music history having seen him perform in the Ryman. My parents were country & western fans – everyone from Hank Williams to Johnny Cash to Buck Owens to Dolly Parton). They also loved Elvis. They’re both gone now but I felt close to them in Nashville. I think they would have loved Adam. It was truly a privilege to hear such a talented artist perform for such a varied crowd -young, middle aged, old, straight, gay, black, white, Asian. We were all there last night & we all loved Adam. In a season when I have been so upset about the Gulf oil disaster, Adam made me smile. Thank you, Adam.

    • I’ve been deeply moved by many postings and comments on this website, but this is the first time I’ve ever cried reading a comment — it touched me to the core. Thank you for your heart, JRZGRL1, and Thanks To The Universe For Adam and for his fans.

  3. Helaine says:

He is absolutely an angel sent from the goddess!! I wanted to see him when he comes to California so badly, but being on disability gives me little income for fun….I watch the videos of his performances though and it kinda feels like being there – I will get to see him someday, I hope!!

    • Hey Helaine what part of Calif are you from im in Riverside and dying to find glambs close by heres my email remavineyard@alo.com

    • kat4adam says:

      Helaine,
I may have an extra ticket for you (at no charge, my treat )if you could wait for another week. I bought extra tickets to see what the seats were like. I love Adam and appreciate anyone who shares my passion!
It’s for the show at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa. I will let you know for sure in a week or so. Sorry to be so vague but I have a friend who wanted the tickets and not sure if she can still go.
I may have another ticket sitting next to you if you have a friend who could go with you. I would have to charge what I paid for that ticket though.
Give me your email address and I will contact you as soon as I find out.
Are you by any chance from England? I know someone Helaine and it would be so cool it was you!
      Kat4adam

      • cheryl 334 says:

KAT 4 ADAM…………………………………………….What a beautiful gesture to HELAINE, you have given her! You are a person after my own heart. Seeing and feeling the desire of someone you kon’t even know, and cannot afford to buy a ticket, to offer up your help and love should not go unnoticed by the world! It is people like you who make such a difference in this world that should be recognized and celebrated. You are a true ‘real deal’ in this sometimes mad world.

CONGRATULATIONS AND JOY AND LOVE TO YOU, Kat4adam…………………………….you are a diamond in the rough!

YOU SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED AND APPLAUDED FOR YOUR LOVFE TO SOMEONE WHO IS A BIT OF A STRANGER TO YOU, PERSONALLY, YET YOU EXTEND YOUR HELPLING HAND WITH LOVE AND SUPPORT. GOD WILL BLESS YOU. Excuse me if I am a bit ‘choked up’ over your wonderfulness! Things like this hit me hard and make me remember that there are still many in this world who have such love in them and will express it like you did. Bless you, and may you receive the love you give away in return when you are in need, yourself,

        Peace-Love-Light-Truth=Joy-Happiness 3 Adam and Kat 4 Adam……………………………………..:)

I must say that Adam was more than ‘perfection’ in Knoxville, I lived in Knoxville for many years as an adolescent and teen. People there are unlike most. They are gracious and kind. Adam gave them his best and more. He was vocally unbelievavle, and gracious with much respect for the venue he was in. He will never be forgotten for this performance. Perfect, loving, straight-forward unmatched vocals and love for his audiance. More of his talent and less of the ‘glam’.
Watch and learn. He is very wise and loving. Thank you, Adam for showing your side of being so respectable and giving so much of your incredible talent. You are truly an ‘icon’ in the way Elvis was/is. He loved his audiance and always showed it. You ae going in the right direction, absolutely!

THERE NEEDS TO BE MENTION OF YOUR PERFORMANCE AND HIGH-CLASS RESPECT AND LOVE TO YOUR ADORING FANS AND YOUR FUTURE FANS THERE IN TENNESSEE. THEY ACCEPTED AND LOVED YOU. THAT IS NOT AN EASY TASK IN THE SOUTH, BUT YOU DID IT! cONGRATULATIONS AND MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a hero, without trying to be. That is the mark of a true hero. One who just IS without trying,,,,,,,,,,

The BEST if not close to it, of any of your performances. Your attitude and vocals did not let you down one iota – or the audiance. ADAM = love personified. Class without trying oozes out of you.
You have set the bar very high for those who come after you.

  4. mandytwo says:

Since it does not look like ADAM is coming to South Florida I really rely on these videos. Thanks soo much Sue for posting them and your kind words of ADAM. I just listened to WWL and Ring of Fire from Nashville and the crowd really seemed to love him. I remember what Randy Travis said to ADAM when he was the mentor on American Idol and ADAM did Ring of Fire. He said I guess you won’t be performing at the Grand Ole Opera will you? I guess ADAM proved him wrong. The crowd went wild. Just love ADAM!!!!!.

    • Good memory!!!

    • Penny F says:

He is coming to South Florida. He is coming to Hollywood. Check the Glam Nation tour schedule on the Planet Fierce website. He comes towards the end of September.

      • mandytwo says:

Thanks so much for the info. I will be at work that day and I sure hope someone can get online and get me a ticket.. I live 10 minutes away from Hard Rock and I would just freak out if I could not see him. Does his official fan club still send you a pass code so you can get online before the general public?

    • AllaboutAdam says:

Adam can conquer ANY genre. And there are quite a few who made comments in the past that are now eating their words (some of whom are my own friends and family!). One by one, he’s leaving everyone else in his wake. I wish for him to be the biggest, greatest star the world has ever witnessed…just not so big as to prevent US, his TRUE FANS, from getting tickets!! Then again, we’ve jumped thru hoops, some of us, so we will ALWAYS find a way. He’s ruined me for any other singer, or performer. They can’t hold a candle to him anymore.

  5. Haha!! Good one Mandy! TOUCHE, eh??!!!

  6. I think Adam is very Cheeky going to Nashville after Simon said DONT ever go to NASHVILLE on Idol. He is the only one who has the BOLLUCKS to do that!!!!! it would good if he recorded it it would be a huge hit . Excellent job i loved his version of RING OF FIRE.

  7. Just got back from Nashville and yes, it was just so amazing in person. And the whole auditorium was just ecstatic, which seemed to make Adam sing at his very best and put on the show of a lifetime. Wow, he is so mesmerizing…..I really had no idea how good it could be. I loved how much he talked to the audience and how he thanked us so often for being there….something you don’t pick up on on the utube videos. I just could not take my eyes off of him, because I did not want to miss one moment staring at him. The dancers were fabulous, as well as the band. Orianthi was fantastic and her drummer was awesome…..very loud, but every lead guitarist would love her show. And Adams show was for everyone……all ages. My husband loved it and he had no idea how great it would be, as he just went as an observer. He is telling everyone how impressive it was. Allison is very talented, animated and sounded like a Miley Cyress type, but with a much better voice….and range!! Adam’s show was just perfect, right down to the last note, and got better and better all the way to the end. I wouldn’t change a thing. Please go see him and take a friend!!!!! Sara

  8. Well Adam just keeps breaking all predications and all barriers….
No mater who, where or what, he does his thing with the truth burning in his heart.
Watch the way he bows, his body language is impeccable.
I feel nothing but Love for him and I honor him deeply.

    • Princessshakeitup says:

Just yesterday this was the quote on my calendar. It is from Albert Schweitzer:

“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”

I think that says what so many of us feel about, and for, Adam perfectly. He has taught us to love him and, maybe even more importantly, he has reminded us about our own great spirits. Because of the way he touches us, we WILL keep loving and dancing and sparkling!

THANK YOU ADAM!!! And thank you to all the wonderful spirits who come here to share.
      Tell a stranger they’re beautiful…
      YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!

      • Thank you for the quote, you are right, it describes exactly what I feel for Adam. Through many years of living and heartache, my fire had gone out. Adam has rekindled my inner spirit and reminded me who I really am inside. And I tell strangers that they are beautiful all the time now. One week and one day until Denver, I’ll be there and in San Francisco and Thunder Valley. Thank you to my husband of 51 years ( I was a baby when I got married 🙂 for (almost) understanding my passion for Adam. I think I’ll keep him 🙂

        .

        • Princessshakeitup says:

I will mark it on my calendar and think of you in one week and one day in Denver…bless you, Luzia, have a great time! Isn’t it interesting how many of us testify to having great husbands who have learned to understand [or at least, tolerate] our passion for Adam!?

  9. delibel (Nederland) says:

  10. glamb# 442 Paula says:

Thank you for listing what the mary lou tweet was i didn’t have time to look it up.as usual Adam shows what a loving stand up individual he is. he deserves all the love and support we can give him he is one of a kid. thank god we found him!!!!

  11. glamb# 442 Paula says:

just watch the whole lot of love video-holy sh-t if your not hot after that you need to make sure your still breathing. AMAZING!!!!!!!! just when you think he can’t get any hotter…OMG he hits you with fire!love you adam!!!

    • Mary at the Lake says:

Also just watched this version of WLL-and yep, still breathing but had to remind myself to breath DURING the performance…not an easy task….and always have to watch with no one else around, as I occasionally catch a glimpse of myself in the reflection of the computer screen and pretty sure anyone seeing me would think I just had a stroke or something….”OMG, call 911!!!!!” Would be a hard thing to explain to those EMT’s….”I’m really okay, it’s just that darn Adam again….and another one of his euphoria-inducing takes on WLL-see you again in a few days…..”

Seriously, his many variations of WLL are such great reminders of his unbelievable skill as an artist and also that he is first and foremost an amazingly talented singer capable of virtually taking anything and making it his own, and better than the original. It is really a blessing in reality that he took his time in being “discovered” so that his skills have been fine-tuned to this degree of excellence and we are the lucky recipients of the resulting beyond- perfection performances.

And that was just WLL….now to watch the rest…..

  12. DANA MARTIN #434 says:

I JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY GLAMNATION EXPERIENCE. I SAW ADAM IN NASHVILLE JULY 7 AT THE RYMAN AUDITORIUM, 5TH ROW. I WAS SO EXCITED TO BE SEEING HIM IN SUCH AN INTIMATE, UP-CLOSE & PERSONAL SETTING, BUT I WAS TOTALLY UNPREPARED FOR HIS SHEER PRESENCE THAT I WAS TOTALLY OVER-COME WITH EMOTION. WHEN HE ASCENDED THE STAIRCASE, I ALMOST CRIED. I WAS TOTALLY EMBARRASSED. I ALMOST COULDN’T BREATHE. HE IS EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON AND I DIDN’T THINK THAT WAS POSSIBLE. IT TOOK ME AT LEAST 2 SONGS IN TO GET OVER IT. THEN I SCREAMED SO MUCH I ALMOST THREW UP. 🙂 IT WAS BY FAR THE BEST SHOW I HAD EVER SEEN. HE GENUINELY SEEMS GLAD TO BE THERE BECAUSE HIS SMILE IS SO REAL. AND HIS ENERGY IS MAGNETIC & THE CROWDS LOVE HIM. THE AGE RANGE OF THE CROWD WAS FROM 1 TO 100. HE MAKES EYE CONTACT WITH THE AUDIENCE AS INDIVIDUALS AND NOT AS A COLLECTIVE GROUP. YOU FEEL LIKE YOU COULD WAVE AND HE WOULD WAVE BACK. THERE ARE JUST NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HIM. HE NEEDS HIS OWN LANGUAGE. I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT MY 2ND ROW SEATS TO THE TUNICA, MS SHOW SEPT. 11. I WILL LET YA’LL KNOW HOW IT GOES !!

  13. LCJones says:

Adam is coming to Florida. They have added the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla, and don’t forget Tropicana Field in Tampa/St. Pete for the baseball game. They added a 2nd Atlanta show too., so stay posted, as venues are being added. This Master Vocalist, and phemomenal artist should not be missed.
He is totally unmatched by anyone this decade. A total Godsend.
