Though unconfirmed by just about everyone, pop star Adam Lambert will portray Lara Croft in the highly anticipated reboot of the Tomb Raider series. Lambert, 28, has been in talks with Warner Bros. and will pick up the role abandoned by Angelina Jolie.

Paramount made the last two Jolie-starring installments Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. The studio let the rights lapse, meaning they went back to game publisher Eidos. Warner won a bid for the film rights in December of 2008.

Rumors of Megan Fox strapping on the thigh-holsters were denied by her reps in 2009, crushing the dreams of a handful of Fox fans everywhere.

Lambert recently kicked off his headlining Glam Nation tour in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania over the weekend. The American Idol runner-up revealed that his music time won’t interfere with his duties on the new Tomb Raider film.

“When it comes to playing Lara Croft, all things must come second,” says Lambert. “It’s the dream of every little boy to play a female video game character and I’m proud to say that my fantasy has come true.”
