I was just thinking about how much Adam has given me to look forward to. He has brought so much excitement and anticipation into my life since I first laid eyes on him on the American Idol audition show. I was a slave to my TV from then on, never allowing anything to interfere with a chance to catch a glimpse of Adam or to hear his breathtaking vocals. I followed him throughout his Idol journey, confidant that I was witnessing entertainment history in the making - the emergence of a phenomenal talent and personality. I scanned the web for any mention of Adam and saw the explosion of admiration of him that took place all over the world. Even as I watched in utter disbelief and outrage when Adam placed as runner up in the Idol competition, I knew that Adam would have a dynamic and long sustaining career ahead of him. I have eagerly awaited every interview and TV appearance, every mention of him or sighting of him on the internet and in the trades, every glimpse of him anywhere. He has never disappointed. Adam has always been completely disarming, intelligent, articulate, interesting, charming, human and utterly admirable! Then it was finally time to see Adam’s long-awaited performance at the American Musical Awards. I was a little bit surprised but it did not make me waiver in my faith in and love for Adam. Among my feelings of fear for the repercussions that Adam might have to face for his zealous interpretation of the lyrics of his song, I felt awe for this artistic being who could be so unabashedly honest and courageous in his art and in his life. It was such a joyful day when I walked into the music store and purchased his debut CD, “For Your Entertainment”. I was so excited to hear every note, every word of each song and once again, Adam did not disappoint. His lyrics and his voice touched me in a very personal way, especially upon hearing the first cut. Early on in the Idol competition, I had watched one of his performance videos on YouTube and had commented, “Adam, you make me want to listen to music again.” To hear my words repeated in the first song on Adam’s CD, however coincidental that it may have been, made me feel as though Adam had heard my comment and was acknowledging my tribute to him. Since then, I have been outraged that ABC canceled Adam’s appearance on Good Morning America, my favorite morning TV show, and I felt strongly enough about their cowardice to take a stand and I voiced my displeasure in an email to ABC. It was evident that CBS was deliriously happy to snap up Adam for a performance on their morning show, as they featured him or mentioned him every several minutes of their two-hour show. When Adam finally got to perform, his vocals were magnificent and heartfelt and he was absolutely gorgeous! That night on the David Letterman Show, I once again felt so much pride in Adam and was touched by his compelling performance. No, Adam doesn’t disappoint. He continues to thrill. He continues to surprise. He continues to elicit the love and admiration of his fans. Adam has given me so much to look forward to. I wait with baited breath to witness what comes next!
