We don’t get very much on the members of Adam’s band, but here’s an entertaining video I just found with Monte Pittman and Tommy Joe Ratliff. It’s done by blogsters Juneau and Xena, who were lucky and found them in a bar and got this magical time with them.

Sorry I don’t have time to write more - but I wanted to let you know I’m still alive and breathing in San Diego!

Attention Houston Glambs and fans!
*** JUST IN - IT’S DEFINITELY ON!!!
We’ve been given information about a media/fan event just for Adam’s fans! Adam’s Houston show is Sept. 8 but POP Critic Joey Guerra is doing a special fan event tomorrow. So, if you’re in Houston tomorrow, get out your Glam & Glitter, and show up!
Have a great time at the event and the concert! Be sure and let us know everything about both!!
~ Carol ~
Here are the details we received:
What: Fan Interview with Joey Guerra; Houston Chronicle POP Critic
When: Saturday, August 28th, at 4PM,
Where : Meteor Club in Montrose, 2306 Genesee , Houston TX 77006 (See mapquest)
Glam it up! Wear your Adam t-shirts and all your Glitter! He wants to do interviews and pics.
The club will be closed so he will have it all for us!
We’re all excited to follow Adam on his Glam Nation Tour and check out the concert videos. I start my day by visiting Sue’s great tour articles to watch all the performances, imagining that I’ve been at each and every show. But let’s not get too carried away with the tour and forget we can make a real impact on TV/Radio by voting on VH1’s Top Twenty. Adam’s joyously playful video, If I Had You has slipped to the number 6 spot. I’ve only heard it once on my San Diego stations! We need to hear it so much we’re tired of it, if possible.
Click here to vote! You don’t even have to vote on the other 19 places, unless you want to. Just “drag and drop” Adam into the #1 box and click Submit. The artists are listed alphabetically by last name, so you have to scroll down a bit. It’s really easy to do it 5 or 10 times, or more. Immediately after voting hit the Rank ‘Em Again tab and vote again and again. Do you have 5 minutes everyday so you can help? Whattaya say Glambs? Can we do it?? Will you commit 5 minutes a day to Adam and If I Had You? If you go to the site, you’ll see that a certain American Idol Winner is also up for a vote. You can throw him some votes too, but only in the #2 or lower boxes!! Please don’t hate me - I’m ALL for Adam!!
The results come out on Saturday morning. It may be too late for us to really effect tomorrow’s standing, but we can certainly change next week’s, and the next and the next and the next!
~ Carol ~
This interview from Albany was so funny! The questions are original, the mood is completely relaxed, and Adam is so funny! He talks about the infamous Tongue Dive and gives his opinions on who he would and wouldn’t Tongue Dive with! I know you’ll enjoy this as much as I did!
~ Carol ~
Adam Lambert is a bonafide member of pop culture and I can prove it! I was watching the Comedy Central roast of David Hasselhoff on Sunday, and comedian Greg Giraldo included mention of Adam in his bit. This is another example of how Adam’s fully staked his spot on the minds of the public and the industry.
I’m including the video for you to see yourself, but I’m warning you, these comedy bits are full of filthy words and thoughts. There is nothing negative said about Adam. In fact, it’s a total compliment to mention him! The standard practice of the roast is for each comedian or personality to get up and completely rip on not only the guest of honor, but on each and every member of the dais. And they don’t hold anything back. Sure, most of the really filthy words are bleeped, but you’ll still get the intent. If you can’t take it, then don’t click on the video. I don’t want to read one comment below criticizing me for posting this. It’s up to you whether you want to watch. We feel it’s our responsibility to bring you every new bit on Adam that we can!
So, if you’re inclined to watch (and remember, I don’t want to hear any complaints!!), he mentions Adam at 4:15 when he talks about David Hasselhoff.
I hope you laugh your buns off! I did!!
~ Carol ~
P.S. I know I haven’t been around much lately. Big thanks to Sue for always being there and working hard for Adam and this site. Ever since seeing Adam in Costa Mesa, I’ve been traveling to see him in other places (Las Vegas) as well as following a few other bands and seeing their great shows. I love finding new bands and supporting them too! Plus, I’ve gone back to school for an additional degree and school has started. I still plan on bringing you all the news I can find on Adam!
Mention of Adam at 4:15
Short and sweet - check with the box office to make sure of the start time of the show. Our show last night at Costa Mesa Fairgrounds started 30 minutes early. My good friend Glenda told me that the San Francisco show started 30 minutes early too. Fortunately I was at the box office yesterday early, getting some other information and the lady nicely told me they had just been notified 20 minutes earlier about the change.
The reason for this? Originally Allison Iraheta wasn’t scheduled to open for Adam during the second half of the Glam Nation Tour. Evidently the fans really called for her to be on the bill, so she’s rocking the opening, along with powerhouse guitarist Orianthi. Glenda said she heard this was for all the California concerts, but be sure and check with your box office or plan on arriving early if you can’t get confirmation.

Want to get this up quickly! . . . Last night, fansite administrator Lila Hayes and I were at the Orange County Fairgrounds box office, trying to sell some extra tickets to that night’s show. What do we hear? OMG - it’s Adam singing Voodoo! They’re doing the soundcheck!! So, I start looking towards the entrance gates, and what do I see? Not much, but if there’s a seam to peek through, I’ll find it. I find a gate that’s open about 4 inches, so I walk through it into the interior courtyard, but still outside the outdoor arena. I go back to the door and call Lila in. We just started walking toward the entry ramps, and Lila is fearful we’ll get caught. What’s the worse that can happen? They’ll call us back? So we walk into the upper of the amphitheatre, and there’s no one there. No one, but the complete band doing the soundcheck on stage!! Being complete gutfull (new word that Lila has created to describe me!) I start walking down, down, down until we’re at the entry for the 1st 3 rows. There are 2 other people sitting in the 5th row listening. We smile at them, and move into the 3rd row. And there we had it. A private concert for about 35 minutes. We would have stayed longer, but we were putting on the Glamb dinner at Mimi’s Cafe, and Lila felt we really should be there early, to greet early arrivers. But no!!! How can we leave - this is too good!! I was hoping our friends and readers would forgive us for this incredible excuse! We stayed later than we wanted, but still made it to the dinner at the exact starting time. During the whole time we were there, no one gave us any attention. We couldn’t believe no one was asking us to leave. The band didn’t even take a second away from what they were doing to ask us to leave. I was kind of worried that they’d mind us sneaking into their private work time, but we had to figure that if they didn’t want us there, they would have had someone ask us to leave.
Now it was Lila’s turn to be brave. About halfway in, she managed to turn on her flip camera and video (or at least audio) what we were hearing. She didn’t want to be obvious so she hid it just at her waist level, pointing the camera up. Hence the great shots of the lighting! Every great once in a while, you see someone. But the sound is amazing!
**JUST ADDED!!! WE FOUND THE ONE SECOND THAT THE CAMERA CAUGHT MONTE AND ADAM ON STAGE!!**
It was such a complete education to hear what the band goes through to make the sound as perfect for the audience as they can. And listen to Adam trying “something with the rhythm of it” on Whole Lotta Love. The improvisation on the lyrics were EPIC. To be honest, I’m a little afraid that he may not have wanted it publicly known that he “wants to get laid!” After all, Lila’s videos from 12 hours ago have already beaten me to the internet! We’re seeing them on all the Adam reporting sites and twitter is already full of these clips. But Glambs, we want you to know that it came from US! And we give it to YOU!
I’m going to try for the soundcheck today, but maybe I’ll face security!?!?
Enjoy!!

We’ve had a great response for the pre-party dinner on July 27th! With over 30 coming (so far!), we’re set for Mimi’s Cafe on the corner of Newport Blvd. and Harbor, 2 miles from the concert at the Pacific Amphitheatre/Orange County Fairgrounds. We’ll be in the Winery Banquet Room. Because of our expected attendance, the restaurant is requiring we use a set menu. This is standard for large parties. You will still have a variety of entrees to choose from and we’re hoping this will not be a problem.
To be updated with all the info, please send an email to: glambinfo@aol.com. Even if you’ve responded to the previous article, you need to send this email to get on the list. Please give us your full name, screen name, the number coming, and your cell number. Include any dietary restrictions. Several of you have asked for info to be emailed and I can’t get your email address without this. Everyone who sends me this email will be kept up to date with all the latest.
We even have some give-aways from the band!
Mimi’s Cafe - July 27, 4:30 PM

Everyone who joined Sue, Lila and me at our Fantasy Springs dinner party last February had such a great time! We know how much you loved meeting each other, and that now you’re one big happy Glamily. Lila, Sue and I loved meeting you too! We’ve gotten so many requests asking if we’re going to have more parties one at various Glam Nation Tour locations. So we’re ready to set one for Costa Mesa on July 27th. This is for Glamb fans attending either the July 27 or the July 28 show. If this sounds good to you, please comment back and let us know how many of you would be coming and how many are in your party. You don’t even have to have a Glamb number, but we’d love it if you did!
***JUST ADDED: Please Glambs, I appreciate everyone’s comments about meeting on other days, but please keep your comments focused on attending the July 27 party we’re trying to plan. This party has to come together very quickly and I don’t have time to sift through other responses that aren’t RSVPs for this event. If you have something else you want to say, please go to the Forums and start a thread!
We’ve found a restaurant only 2 miles from the fairgrounds with a large, delicious menu, friendly prices and plenty of free parking. If we have enough people, they’ll even give us our own room! Once we find out how many people will be attending, we can make solid plans and then give out all the information.
The preliminary set up is:
July 27, 4:30 PM arrival. The fair isn’t running that day and the concert starts at 7:30 PM. Stay as long as you want. No cover charge. They will have staff on hand just to take care of us so the timing is perfect to enjoy a delicious meal together. Order anything off their menu - your cost. This will be a great opportunity to have fun together, get to know each other better, and get nutritionally charged for the epic concert to follow!! We’ll even have some give aways directly from the band!!
So Glambs and everyone reading this - if you’re going to the Costa Mesa shows we hope you’ll join us and party with your fellow Glambs!!
Let’s hear from you!!

Adam Lambert’s dad, Eber Lambert has a brilliant mind for comedy and telling it like it is. There’s no doubt where the brothers get their sense of humor from. If you follow him on Twitter, you’ll be rolling from many of his tweets (and educated by the rest). Just catch the latest, obviously speaking to the Kansas City protesters last week.

Check this hilarious comment about Neil’s two-dimensional presence at a Denver signing. Did you all know that Neil is working as a production assistant (read gofer!) on Adam’s tour this summer? What a great brother to employ him. Now, where do the rest of us get in line?
@ravengirl57 http://twitpic.com/26ecwu - Tour merch folks are cutting edge: I’m sure the lifesize Neil mannequins will be a big seller about 21 hours ago (yesterday)

Just doing our best to give you some alternative pieces of Adam-tainment! Hope you enjoy!!

This may be really old, especially for today’s telegenic mindset, but I just came across these clips of Adam performing in “Wicked” and thought that they may be new for some of you too!
We all know Adam was in different companies of Wicked as a member of the chorus, and was even the understudy for the male lead, Fiyero, in the Los Angeles cast, performed at The Pantages Theatre. But did you get to see Adam performing in that role? Some people were very lucky and got to see the glam star in the making. Wicked was Adam’s last professional job before entering American Idol. In fact, he gave up his part to proceed with Idol.
Thank you to my friend Ellen for passing the comparison video on to me. I must say all of the lead males in this piece are excellent singers! I also found a few more examples floating around the internet that allow us into his pre-Idol world. Curtain call!

Have a Few Fiyeros! Kristoffer Cusick, Adam Lambet, Norbet Leo Butz, Aaron Tveit, and Colin Donnell are featured in this video!
As Long As You’re Mine
This next video is from Wicked Wednesdays at Universal Studios Hollywood. For 4 Wednesdays over the summer of 2007, Wicked’s Los Angeles company and Universal Studios partnered to bring Wicked fans this special event which included cast performances, a special meet and greet as well as contests and more.
Here is Adam as Fiyero and Julie Reiber as Elphaba (she was the stand-by at the time) performing the song ‘As Long As You’re Mine’
It’s Carol - filling in for Maestro Sue on the Glam Nation Tour posts while she’s on vacation! I didn’t have any Glamb spy reporters at the show, so I’m posting a review published in the Kansas City Star written by Timothy Finn. And of course the videos. These aren’t the best for sound or completeness, but until I find better they’ll have to do. I think his version of Whole Lotta Love was epic! I have to highlight the first video. It’s an absolutely adorable quick audience sing-along, led by Adam on If I Had You. And no posting about the Kansas City, MO appearance would be complete without SOME mention of the horrible display of how low human (were they even human?) behavior can sink. Don’t kill me folks, we are trying to be a news site here, not just a fan site. But I’m only going to include space for the brilliant answer! Of course we loved Adam’s tweet: *sigh* God doesn’t Hate.
~ Enjoy! ~

Review | Adam Lambert at the Midland
By TIMOTHY FINN
The Kansas City Star
When its eulogy is writ, “American Idol” will be remembered most for a very few things: Simon Cowell; the pseudo-freaks who signed up for auditions; and a few of its champions and runners-up.
Thursday night, one of “Idols” most memorable contestants, 2009 runner-up Adam Lambert, sold out the Midland theater, a feat rarely accomplished these days, unless you’re Leonard Cohen or apart of one of Johnny Dare’s hard-rock bonanzas.
To give you an idea of how inaccurate the “Idol” barometer is when it comes to predicting success, Lambert lost to Kris Allen, who earlier this year was one of the opening acts for the Barenaked Ladies and Counting Crows. Lambert spins in an orbit unlike any other “Idol” winner or runner-up. Instead of third-generation grunge or watered-down R&B/soul/pop, he deals primarily in a mix of dance-pop and -rock — the kind favored by disco divas — and gives it all a light coating of goth.
It has helped him build a battalion of fans ages 12 to 60, which was the makeup of Thursday’s crowd.
His tour is called “The Glam Nation Tour”; his diehard fans call themselves Glamberts; and his show is loaded with lots of cabaret, choreography and gender-bending costumes — a mix of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Culture Club and Cher.
He took the Midland stage in one of those costumes, an ensemble of fur, fringe, leather, rhinestones and a black top hat, singing the song “VooDoo.” He would deliver 75 minutes of dance and music — some of it big and loud with heavy beats, some of it soft and acoustic. It included covers of Johnny Cash (”Ring of Fire”) and Led Zeppelin (”Whole Lotta Love”), proving that nerve and audacity are not two of his deficiencies.
Lambert separated himself from his “Idol” pack with his sense of campiness and his voice, which is big and beefy enough to take on Robert Plant or one of his own big-beat dance songs, like “Sure Fire Winners” or “Music Again.” It’s also agile enough to handle a guitar or piano ballad, like “Sleepwalker” or “Soaked.”
The set list comprised more than a dozen songs, most from his “For Your Entertainment” album, now approaching 700,000 in sales in the U.S. (more than double Allen’s debut). But the sights, including a laser show, and the dancing were as much an attraction as the songs.
It was all appreciated by the crowd of more than 2,500, some of whom had gathered outside the theater before lunch to assure a good spot on the floor.
Many wore tributes to him, like jewelry bearing his visage or an extra-heavy application of mascara. Even though the sound could have been a bit cleaner, most devoured it with the kind of intense enthusiasm and devotion that another “Idol” contestant generated — Clay Aiken.
He has learned that longevity is a tricky and elusive pursuit. Lambert, too, may learn the same thing, but for now he looks like a guy who lost a battle but is winning the long-term war.
Allison Iraheta: She, too, was a 2009 “Idol” runner-up and during her brief opening set, she showed off what got her there: a voice big enough to handle Pat Benatar (”Heartbreaker”) and a few of her own hard-pop songs, which evoke the sound and styles of Pink and Joan Jett.

Let’s start with an absolutely adorable clip of Adam leading the audience in a sing-along for If I Had You. I hope he does that on future shows!

Hi Adam Fans!
Short and sweet - here is a really good (long!) interview done in Lansing, Michigan. The interviewer even manages to get some questions in that haven’t been asked a zillions times already! I know Sue posted the link for this interview already, but to be honest, I missed it the first time I read it. I thought it was so much fun I wanted to give it it’s own listing!
Enjoy!

What would a day be like if we had no news about Adam? Thank goodness that day hasn’t happened yet! Today, we’re filling you in on the top 10 things that Adam’s gotta have on tour. I have my own list of things that I can’t go to one of his shows without and I’ll add those at the end. If you have something I forgot, please add it in your comments!
Adam’s Top Ten Things To Bring On Tour
1. My iphone! I can’t leave home without my phone to keep in contact with my friends and family. It also holds all of my music!
2. My computer of course. This is where I get to keep my creative juices flowing and I get to note a lot of my ideas. This is also where I get to keep in touch with my fans! Do you think he reads our website?!
3. A flip cam. This allows me to capture moments behind the scenes to share with my fans!
4. A good book. With so much traveling and time on a bus, it is great to have a good read with me.
5. Nail Polish! Gotta keep my nails neat!
6. Journal. Here I can write lyrics for any ideas of songs that I have as well as take notes on all of these amazing experiences that I am getting to participate in.
7. A hat! When I don’t want to do my hair, my hat always comes in handy. We’ll be watching, Adam!
8. Sharpies! Gotta have lots of these so I can sign autographs for fans! Thank you so much for this Adam! The last time I got an autograph from another artist, I had to dig through my purse for a pen!
9. Liquid Chlorophyll. Greens are so vital to good health. I just checked this out. It sounds like a great supplement. I bet sales go through the roof now!
10. My jewelry. I can’t leave home without my accessories.
Carol’s List of Things Needed for an Adam Lambert Concert!
1. A great outfit. It doesn’t have to look like I’m trying to be him - I’ve gotten over that. But one that makes me feel great!
2. Rest. If I’m spending the whole day waiting in line for a GA concert this is a must!
3. If it’s a GA concert, paper and pen to make a list of people waiting in line and markers to write the number on the back of their hands. This is just in case it wasn’t started before I arrive.
4. Wet ‘N Wild Gliltter Gel. Gotta spread the sparklies all over! Thanks to Janet for turning me on to this one!
5. A fully charged cell phone and camera, for those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
6. My best friend Lila. No Adam event is the same without her! And I certainly can’t forget Ellen, Glenda, Janet and site-author Sue too!
What are your “must haves?”
~ Carol Glamb #7 ~

We’ve seen the “glammorific” costumes that Adam performs in on his Glam Nation Tour. While they’re something beautiful to behold, the way they compliment his eyes, his style, his body (okay Carol, let’s not get carried away here!) have you given thought to the meaning, if any?
***JUST ADDED: Adam included a tour through his wardrobe on the VH1 Posted series video below. Although he talked about the A as the “running theme of the show” he didn’t let on any meaning. But there sure was a smile behind the words!
Surely there has to be something behind the letter A that adorns the opening number top hat and back of the vest he wears later in segment three of his show. Is it merely a case of branding? I don’t think so. Other than his tattoos, I don’t see Adam sticking to any one visual – he’s too much about change. Is it ego? Nah, we’ve never seen any sign of topside inflation from this magnificent showman. But still, there has to be something there. Nothing happens by accident. And why the color red? I know it crossed my mind immediately that it was a Scarlet Letter. But what “indiscretion” was it referring to? I came upon the following explanation on another site and was really entertained by it. The article was posted by NoAngel, but I don’t know if that’s the author. I hope it gets you thinking too!
~ Carol, Glamb #7 ~
A is for Adam.
Simple. Unless the Adam is Lambert, and the A is huge and sparkling in antique script on a top hat. In scarlet. Get it?
Okay, so I didn’t, at first. I blame sensory overload. The night of the concert in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania was an explosion of Purple fringe! Lasers! Acoustic Aftermath! Bare feet and sultry moves and Ring of Fire, omg! And oh yeah, Adam likes to splash his initial around- cool! An “A” on the back of his vest, and his dancers’ costumes, and LP’s drum. In all the glitz and flash at the beginning of the long-anticipated Glam Nation Tour, Adam’s message to us may have been overlooked.
But something finally nudged my mind, and when it hit me, I geeked out, because seriously, I stan Adam for a hundred different reasons, but his clever, creative brain just ~does things to me. So bear with me as I look a little deeper into the symbolism of Adam’s scarlet letter.
For those who haven’t read the novel since forced at exam-point to do so in high school, the abridged/nutshell version of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1850 classic The Scarlet Letter: Hester Prynne is a young woman sent to colonial Boston by her husband. For years, she waits for him to join her, and when he doesn’t, has an affair with another man. Discovered, she is imprisoned, and once released, is forced to wear a bright red “A” (for adultery) on her dress, marking her as a sinner. She lives quietly on the outskirts of town and over time, she comes to embrace the letter, and even to wear it proudly. She decorates it in gold thread, and refuses to remove it even when given permission to do so. The meaning of the letter itself changes, and many townspeople, who have come to respect Hester, come to believe it stands for “able.”
In the novel, Hester was judged by her community as a sinner and forced to wear a label of her shame. Her offense: she defied the rules and dared to be a sexual being. She could have sunk down under the punishment and let it defeat her. She could have left town and hidden her identity. Instead, she stayed, and through her suffering, she gained insight and wisdom and strength of character. She did not deny who she was or what she had done, and through her quiet courage, turned a label of shame into a badge of honor.
So what does all this have to do with Adam? What was the crime that Adam committed?
He defied the rules and dared to be a sexual being. Gifted with the closing number on the 2009 American Music Awards, he gave an unabashedly sexual performance, sending conservatives into a tailspin and provoking 1500 of them to release their pearls long enough to set righteously trembling fingers to keyboards and write half-coherent letters of outrage to the FCC. Because for some “Americans,” gay is a-okay as long as it’s subtle and asexual, but when it’s “in your face,” the children are evidently at risk.
Adam’s sin was that, right from the beginning, he refused to be neutered. “I’m a sexual person,” he has said unapologetically, and at the AMAs he gave an overtly sexy performance befitting a sexy song. Something that no out gay male had ever done before on national prime-time television. His punishment was swift. Cancelled performances, a media storm, outcry from all sides.
At least Adam had the support of the gay community after the AMAs, right? After all, Aaron Hicklin of Out Magazine had just publicly exhorted Adam to “find [his] own path,” to not be afraid of being “too gay,” and to “not mess this up.” “This” being the pioneering path that Adam was charting as the first major-label recording artist to be out at the beginning of his career. Unfortunately, the gay community was far from unanimously supportive after the AMAs, and it took GLAAD a dishearteningly long time to speak out on his behalf against ABC. Many in the LGBT community fretted that Adam’s over-the-top behavior had set back years of hard-won progress. So apparently the advice to Adam to find his own path actually meant, “tread carefully down this narrow safe road we’ve defined, so you don’t freak out the straights with the idea of gay sex…”
And Adam’s fanbase? As devoted as they are, even some of his most ardent fans wrung their hands in fear over the career implications of the AMA furor. To this day, the performance sparks fierce debate among Adam’s fans, with many proclaiming it a travesty and an anomaly. They are quick to explain that it isn’t “The Kiss” or the simulated oral sex that they object to, but rather they hate that Adam was “threatening,” “angry,” and “uncontrolled” on stage. Never mind that the words (“Can you handle what I’m ’bout to do? Cause it’s about to get rough for you…”) suggest that this isn’t a pretty love song. Clearly, many fans are uncomfortable with an Adam that is sexually aggressive, and prefer a softer edge.
In the days following the AMAs, Adam was given many opportunities to apologize for that night. It would have been so easy for him to say, “I’m sorry” or “I shouldn’t have done what I did.” Forgive me, I fucked up, I’ll never do it again, I promise I’ll be good…
Instead, Adam owned what he did on that stage. To one and all he claimed it as his performance, his emotions, and his interpretation of the song. He weathered the backlash and the anger from foes and friends alike with class and dignity. Recently, Adam has spoken of the anxiety and pressure he felt in those days, when he wondered if he had ruined his chances of success. But all we saw back then was his grace under fire as he asked us all to consider ‘what do we want from him?’
Not a question with an easy answer. Naturally, those of us who love Adam and wish him success have many opinions about how he should go about his career. There are those who want OTT Adam- as much flash and glitter as possible; more is more, and screw those who can’t handle it. Others want Adam to tread more lightly- build his fanbase by appealing to a wider audience, and gradually introduce them to his brand of glam without freaking them out. For every person who loves out-and-proud Adam, there is at least one who would rather not have his sexuality “shoved down their throat,” a turn of phrase that makes one wonder about the fantasies these folks spin in the privacy of their own heads.
Consider also the fact that Adam came to national attention through American Idol, and many of his fans are devotees of the show. This is a program that celebrates the Cinderella story, wherein a wide-eyed, talented nobody is plucked from obscurity and gifted with fame and fortune. American Idol watchers like their contestants wholesome and humble and malleable. Smart and opinionated? No thanks. Openly gay and sexual? Not so much. Clay Aiken, anyone?
Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote that “no man, for any considerable period, can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude without getting bewildered as to which one may be the true.” This is what Adam means when he speaks of being true to himself and being an “open book.” He could have taken a safer route, either by keeping his sexuality ambiguous until he was well-established in his career, or by airbrushing his gay so as not to offend the fainthearted. But Adam has continued to be unabashedly himself. A man of many facets, Adam has shown us his vulnerability and earnestness when a song calls for it. And when the song and the setting is sexy, Adam brings on the sexy, whether it’s a feverishly hot performance at Rock My Town, or rocking a studded codpiece at Sydney’s Mardi Gras, or trading sensual licks with Tommy on tour.
So what about that “A”? It could stand for the AMAs. For Adam’s sin. For the two-dimensional label that so many were eager to attach to him, and the storyline that people seemed so ready to write: A fallen Idol who failed to live up to the hype and who failed to stay in the safe little box. Nearly every interview and article, to this day, is another opportunity for that scarlet letter to be branded onto Adam yet again. Lest we forget.
Instead, that “A” stands for Adam. “It’s me, I’m a freak…” Adam shows us that he is in charge of his own identity, and thus in control of his destiny. Rather than apologizing for the past or pretending that it didn’t happen, Adam accepts and embraces it as a part of himself. Recognizing that the AMA performance will be attached to him for some time to come, he brings up the reference himself, with a wink and a dash of glitter.
By placing the scarlet “A” front and center on his top hat and wearing it at the beginning of his concert, Adam tells us that he is unashamed of his debut performance, or of his sexuality, or of being a sexual person. The “A” becomes a mark of pride. Adam has walked through the fire and come out stronger than ever. And just as Hester gilded her letter and made it into a sign of her own strength, Adam has taken what some have called his “sin” and through the catalyst of his own character, transformed it into a symbol of honor.
So yes, as it turns out, A is for Adam.
Adam tweeted a review to the Nashville stop and it took my breath away. This is the review that we’ve all privately been writing, but we haven’t seen something like this posted in mainstream news . . . until now!
I know it’s a tiny bit old, but we never get tired of reading or hearing great things about Adam, right? I’m including the entire review from USA Today’s Idol Chatter, and then giving the link in case you want to read the article complete with reference links. See here for article.

Adam Lambert brings his Glam Nation Tour to Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium
In a summer that has seen concerts and entire tours fall by the wayside, Adam Lambert has put together something impressive: A sold-out tour of large clubs and small theaters playing to a thoroughly devoted audience that comes not for the big single but to bask in the presence of the artist. Most concerts these days feel like a luxury; to his fans, an Adam Lambert concert feels like a necessity.
Wednesday night, Adam brought the Glam Nation Tour to Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, a former church tabernacle and the longtime (and, with the recent flood damage done to the Grand Ole Opry House, the current) home of the Grand Ole Opry (you remember, the place Adam told Randy Travis he had “no plans” to play). Fellow American Idol alumnus Allison Iraheta and Australian guitar whiz Orianthi opened. The sold-out crowd of nearly 2,400 included Sleepwalker co-writer Aimee Mayo, former Idols Kellie Pickler and Chris Sligh, and Big Machine Records head Scott Borchetta.
Adam began with the stage bathed in purple light, singing Voodoo against a cloudy, full-moon backdrop. In his top hat and tattered long coat, he resembled Baron Samedi, the hard-partying undertaker character of voodoo lore, a loa who escorts souls on their journey into the netherworld. And maybe, with second song Down the Rabbit Hole – during which lasers created patterns on the stained-glass windows at the back of the Ryman balcony — there was just a touch of the Mad Hatter, as well.
When the band began Ring of Fire, the Ryman crowd went absolutely ballistic. Easily one of the night’s most anticipated performances, Ring of Fire has a lot of history in this venue.
Johnny Cash met June Carter, his future wife, backstage at the Ryman during a Grand Ole Opry show back in the ’50s. Carter later wrote the song about her feelings for Cash, then Cash took it, turned it back on her, and made it into a huge hit. During the ’60s, Cash shot his television show for ABC on the Ryman stage, and the venue hosted the memorial service for the song’s co-writer, Merle Kilgore, in 2005. (For what it’s worth, I think Cash — the kind of guy who got a kick out of sitting on his patio with a crow call just to fool crows into thinking he was one of them — would’ve loved Adam’s take on Ring of Fire and the way it gets under some people’s skin.)
Not until Fever did Adam do a song that appears on the basic version of the For Your Entertainment album. It’s a huge risk for a performer to start a set with so many non-album tracks — the only other act I can remember seeing pull a stunt like that was Bruce Springsteen, and he’d been playing to his faithful for nearly 40 years at that point — but Adam’s fans, many of whom may have the entire set memorized from watching YouTube videos of his previous concert stops, stayed with him like they were hits they’d heard all their lives.
Adam flirted with all the dancers — and some amazingly high notes, as well — during Fever. Then the dancers got a tribal/industrial intro to Sleepwalker, while Adam changed into a full-length black coat.
After Sleepwalker, Adam said, “It is such an honor to be performing here at the Ryman,” as he sat down on a stool for the acoustic portion of the set.
Adam has constructed his concert like a three-act piece of musical theater. The first act is filled with the “mystery … intrigue … sex” of songs like Voodoo, Down the Rabbit Hole and Fever. The second act, with its acoustic songs, has all the tension: the questioning of Whataya Want From Me, the crushing heartbreak of Soaked and the emotional turnaround of Aftermath, a song Adam said was about “looking inside yourself for the answers.” The third act begins when Adam returns in sparkly, sleeveless black, and it’s all celebration from Sure Fire Winners through Strut, Music Again and If I Had You.
That song, which closed the main set with an introduction of the band and the dancers, plus an audience sing-along, “is what this whole show’s about,” Adam told the crowd, because “you’re not edit anything if you’re not connected with love.”
One of the best things about the live Adam Lambert experience is the way he has completely reinterpreted many of his songs for the tour. Anybody who comes in expecting the arrangements from For Your Entertainment is in for a big surprise.
The songs the band performed acoustically, for instance, were great showcases for that voice, giving it plenty of room to play. Soaked, with its classically romantic melody and solo piano accompaniment for much of the song, took on a structural resemblance to Eric Carmen’s dramatic ’70s pop ballad All By Myself. Sure Fire Winners, almost a dance anthem on disc, got a thumping rock treatment.
Both of the encore songs — Mad World and Whole Lotta Love – sounded completely different than they did when Adam performed them on American Idol. Mad World quickened to around the pace of the Tears for Fears version, while Whole Lotta Love settled into a slinking, acoustic groove with a spacey, stretched-out middle section.
The few weak spots will work themselves out with experience. The transitions during Adam’s costume changes could be smoother (though it wasn’t like anybody was complaining, and they clearly thought the pay-off was worth the wait), and Adam sometimes relies on the obvious, even going so far at one point as to explain his set list.
And then there’s the length of Adam’s set, which many reviews have noted. Bluntly put, it’s short — slightly more than an hour, including the encore. But don’t think the audience felt short-changed. Here’s the thing: the show’s not just short, it’s quick. The entire concert lasted about three hours, but it seemed like half that. Allison’s six-song set flew by, and Adam’s hour felt like about 15 minutes. Just like Adam’s team understands how to create demand for tickets, Adam gets one of the basic show-biz rules:
Always leave ‘em wanting more.
Adam Lambert spoke directly on his MySpace page about the video shoot for If I Had You. This was clearly written a while ago, but with Adam’s claim of the number 1 spot on this weekend’s VH1’s Top Twenty, it’s extremely relevant. Plus, you just feel so good reading directly what he had to say!
The “If I Had You” video shoot was something I had anticipated for some time. In addition to the fantastic beat and melody, the song’s lyrics are what really stand out to me about this uplifting jam. It explores all the glitz of life in celebrity culture but reveals how it can all be a facade without true connectivity to others. The message is one of Love. Over the past year, in addition to my unbelievable opportunities, I have also been faced with the unique challenge of staying positive in light of some critics and closed mindedness. My friends, family, and my devoted fans have been a key force in keeping me grounded. I wanted to make a video that paid tribute to the wonderful people who’ve inspired me to become the artist and spirit I am today.
Director Bryan Barber’s video treatment fit so perfectly with my intention! His vision was so clear! I was a big fan of his previous work and he was so easy to collaborate with. The type of gathering he wanted to re-create was one similar to the Burning Man Festival I have often cited as a major artistic turning point in my life. The impact of this experience has mostly to do with the eclectic community that it draws. About 5 years ago, after growing bored and unsatisfied with the cliché Hollywood “scene” I discovered this fascinating counter-culture of underground designers, performance artists and various bohemians. So we agreed to invite my real-life friends to be a part of the video!
To ensure an authentic representation of unique individuals, instead of using one stylist, everyone was asked to dress themselves however they desired. All we told them was: “Psychedelic tribal party in the forest!” One of the main themes I wanted to get across is that no matter your race, sexuality, age, or religion, we can all come together in the spirit of peace and love and have fun!
We shot overnight near LA’s Griffith Park and had a blast. I had way too much fun in my trailer getting styled. I was dressed in Galliano, The Blondes, and Skingraft. We fused high Glam rock with a boho-tribal-world traveler vibe. I’m lucky to work with such a creative glam team! I was also thrilled to feature my band, dancers and a special guest all of whom will be appearing on my upcoming Glam Nation Tour.
I believe that this video is the perfect follow up to the angst of Whataya Want From Me. If that song begged to ask the questions, this one joyfully gives the answers. Enjoy!

Oh Adam, I certainly do enjoy watching you have so much fun and getting to do things the way you want! Please keep giving us pure entertainment joy like this. And just in case you haven’t seen it enough, enjoy it again and again here!!

I’ve got good news and bad news. I’ll give you the good news first. It looks like Adam’s Glam Nation Tour is heading east - to the Far East! This is absolutely mindblowing for Adam! From my preliminary research, I don’t know of any other artist (especially none off American Idol!) who has ever hit the international scene so soon into their careers!
Now the bad news. You knew it was coming! With Adam on foreign soil, we can only hope he doesn’t stay away too long. It looks like he’s only getting about 2 weeks rest between closing his USA tour and heading out again. I hope he’s taking the time to rest those vocal cords, vacation, spend time with friends and just debrief before hitting the road again!
I’m so thankful for the internet. Everything’s available right away, and you know you can come to us to hear and see everything first! Read more
After reading the comments on Sue’s wonderful Baltimore post and watching the Soaked video from that show, I’m almost in tears too. Not from just Adam’s amazing connection to this song, but from the rudeness of the “fans.” I added my comments to the post, saying most of this, but felt it deserved a post on its own.
I guess you can’t stop people from singing along, that’s a lot of the fun of going to a concert. I’m sure artists appreciate that. It’s got to be flattering to them for so many to know their lyrics inside and out to a song that isn’t radio-play. I don’t know if there’s a protocol about singing along to fast versus slow songs, but when an artist like Adam connects so much to his ballads that his performance is visibly altered, I’d like to let him have his moment, and command the stage by himself. He doesn’t have backup singers or dancers then, so we should follow his lead. The constant conversation and shout-outs are really a lack of consideration for the performer. We don’t know what Adam can hear from the stage. He may be so into his performance that he doesn’t even hear it. But it seemed like you could almost see Adam searching for new areas of the audience to focus on, one that is getting his message.
When someone is talking and taking away from my enjoyment of the show, I don’t have any problem with letting them know. Let’s all agree on what to say. Something like “I have been looking forward for so long to hearing this amazing man sing, and I would really appreciate it if you’d hold your conversation until it’s over” is non-aggressive and gets the point across. Whattaya say Glambs?

I know it seems like a natural that Adam’s new single “If I Had You” will claim the #1 spot, right? But we have something to say about it, and how soon it happens. So click here daily and VOTE to help make it happen!
If you’ve never done this, or it’s been a while, here’s a refresher. You’ll see the list on the left side of possible songs for the Top 20. Scroll down a bit to find Adam’s IIHY and click and drag it to the #1 spot in the grid on the right side. You can place whatever songs you also like, but at least just get Adam into the #1 spot! You can vote everyday, so bookmark this and go back and vote daily.
Let’s see how soon we can make this happen!!

While listening to Randy Jackson being interviewed by Jim Cantiello from MTV News about one of my favorite bands, Paper Tongues, Randy manages to slip in a great comment pumping Adam Lambert up. Check it out at 2:04.
And if you’re going to be in Las Vegas to see Adam Lambert on July 31 and you’re there a day early, check out Paper Tongues in the Bang a Gong Tour at Hard Rock Café on the strip July 30, for only $12. Fan site administrator Lila and I have already bought our tickets! They’re playing with 2 other bands whose clips sound really good too. Please don’t kill me with comments, I’m not trying to take attention away from Adam, but Lila and I discovered Paper Tongues playing on the same show with Muse in Las Vegas last December and think everyone should have a chance to love them too. We fell in love with their music and went up to The Troubador in Los Angeles to see them last month, where we met Randy Jackson that night.
Here’s some Paper Tongues for you to check out! This is their current release, “Trinity,” off their self-titled album. Lead singer Aswan North is an amazing writer, writing every song on the album. His signature high crescendo voice fills the stage with warmth, accompanying his electric dance moves. This was from Lopez Tonight last month. I had tickets and unfortunately Lila couldn’t go. I went by myself and saw this from front row center, the night before my birthday. I admit his voice was a bit rough that night, but it poured from his heart, as always. You’ll see me several times in the clip, wearing a bright pink sweater. After speaking with Aswan after the show at The Troubador, he recognized me here and at 3:54, took my hand for 5 seconds, then when he released it he touched his hand to his heart. I will never forget that birthday present!
I hope you become hooked on this great band too!

Since many of Adam Lambert’s concerts are General Admission, I thought I’d share some of my experiences and offer some quick tips on how to make your concert one you’ll never forget. Fan site administrator Lila and I started going to GA concerts last year when we attended our first-of-many Muse shows. All of them are no reserved seating on the floor, but standing on a first-come, first-served basis. I attended Adam’s Hammond, Indiana show last week and it was the same thing. I have never had a bad experience with this practice. In fact, they’ve made for some of the best concerts of my life. Lila and I were 5th and 3rd row at Muse/Las Vegas and Muse/Phoenix, right in front of lead guitar genius Matt Bellamy and last week I was front and center with Adam!
Now there’s no getting around the “have to go early” syndrome if you want an up-close-and-personal experience. Sorry. But there is a way to make it much easier. I’ve never done the “get there the night before” thing. At Hammond, the first person got in line at 9 PM the night before. The next person arrived around 3 AM, and others trickled in during the next few hours. Depending on the location, some will let you sleep there, some won’t. This is something you’ll have to take a chance with, if you think it’s necessary. Contact the venue and ask about their policy. Lila and I believe in showing up relatively early the day of the show and scouting out the situation to see if there are others in line yet. If not, we leave for a while and check back later. Usually we’ve come from out-of-town and like to see a little of the city, if only to go get a good breakfast!
For Hammond, Ellen, Cheryl, Janet and I arrived around noon the day of the show. The first people in line had a clipboard, pen and several sheets of paper. Upon arrival, everyone signed in with a name and number, and then wrote that number on their back of our hand with a Sharpie. We were numbers 31-34 in line. This system is brilliant! However, this was NOT something that was supported or endorsed by the Hammond officials. They made it emphatically clear that they would not follow the list and if people complained, would not enforce it. It was simply our Glamily’s system of civility and trust, and we were all standing behind it. If anyone would have dared to challenge us, they would have been surprised to learn how strong a group of women can be! In fact, a group of 3 sweet men weren’t happy when they saw the group in line ahead of them, but had no one to blame but themselves for arriving when they did. We got no fight from them! The beauty of the sign-in sheet was it allowed for us to leave the line, go have something to eat, tour the facility, and just keep checking back to see how things were going. Some of our party felt the need to stay there the entire time, but that’s up to you. I wouldn’t feel right about signing in and not returning until it was time to enter the show. People could challenge you, and this is where you’re on your own. You obviously become friendly with the people around you. If this is the first Adam event you’re attending, it may be your first time to safely be among others who share your same passion and dedication to Adam.
Tips:
1.) Even if you’re not going to be the first person to arrive, bring paper and Sharpies (don’t use washable ink) to start the list. Everyone will be grateful to you for using your head!
2.) Think about bringing portable chairs, food and drink and things to make your time more comfortable, depending on your needs. Usually doors open about an hour before the show starts, so take your chairs and things back to your car about 90 minutes prior. Again, call the venue ahead of time and ask about bringing food to the line and when they plan on letting people in.
3.) Another thing to consider is what part of the stage do you want to be in front of? Again, be prepared. Call the venue and ask them the width of the stage. Usually there’s room for 35-50+ to be at the front. What is the number on your hand? Will it allow you to be front row, center? Have a back-up plan. Do you have a favorite performer in the band that you’d like to be in front of, if you can’t be close to Adam? For example, do you want to witness first-hand the next Adam-Tommy kiss? Tee hee! Band members will always take the same position on stage, especially when there’s choreography. And we know there’s lots of that on this Glam Nation tour! That will give you some idea of where in the room you want to quickly walk to when they open the doors. You decide, is it better to be second row on the end, or 5th row back in the center?
***ADDED SUGGESTIONS FROM OUR READERS! THANKS GUYS!!
4.) Wear comfortable & possibly closed-toed shoes. You’ll be on your feet a great deal of time, and in close proximity once the show starts. Protect those pedicures and toes!
5.) Choose a place ahead of time to meet up, just in case you’re separated from your friend(s). Thanks Lila for reminding me about that!
6.) Drink enough water so you don’t become dehydrated, but make sure and go to the bathroom before you go in. The crowd can be very unforgiving in trying to let someone get in front of them, even if you say you’re just going back to your place!
I know many fans are freaking out a little about not knowing ahead of time where they’ll be. I hope this helps brings some calm to that anxiety. Most of all, enjoy your concert and get ready for a show like no other you’ve seen before! I’ve seen Queen and David Bowie, so I know what I’m talking about here! No matter what row you’re in, you’re going to have an AMAZING story to tell. But above all, if you don’t have plans to go to any of Adam’s shows, rethink that and do what you can to get to at least one. You’ll be thanking yourself for every dollar you spend and every moment you spent waiting in line. Once this national tour is over, if he begins an international tour, who knows how long it will be before he’s back?!
I can’t wait for my next “Fever” to start!!

I couldn’t believe it when my girlfriend Ellen said she had extra tickets to both the Milwaukee and Hammond/Horseshoe Casino concerts. Since I had credit on Southwest Airlines that was going to expire soon, I decided I was going to follow my passion and fly out to visit her and see Adam with her and Sue, our other author, not once but twice that week. Oh my, that impulsive behavior was it worth it!
Sue has already posted her article on Milwaukee, so I’ll cover my experience at the Hammond show. This was a General Admission ticket which meant no reserved seats. You have to pay your dues and wait in line for as many hours as you’re willing to sacrifice, for the chance of an “up close and personal” experience. You then get “standing only space” on the main floor, on a first-come, first-served basis. (I’m posting an article soon on Tips on Surviving a GA Concert, since so many of Adam’s concerts are this method.) There were many wonderful people in line, and I’m including this great picture of Mariel, who I couldn’t resist talking to when I saw her. I’m sure you’ll agree after looking at her amazing outfit! She told me she only woke up to Adam from the AMA’s on, never seeing him on Idol! Imagine that!! I hope she’s caught up on him via YouTube!
Mariel, a fan only since the AMAs!

I’ll cut to the chase, we were fortunate enough to get center almost front-row position. People who beat me to the rail were leaving space between them. I had enough space to put my hands on the rail, but couldn’t get enough room to actually stand there. They weren’t budgin’ for nothin’. Oh well, I was only inches away, I certainly can’t complain! On that front rail, next to the girl in front of me was a guy who was an obvious fan of Adam’s, because he had made himself up to look exactly like him – minus the new shaved side of his head! I even said to him, “I’ll laugh so hard if Adam comes out here and says ‘whoa, it’s like I’m looking into a mirror!’” But the guy had no personality or sense of humor because all he did was blink. In fact, he and the girl next to him who wouldn’t budge, never showed any real signs of excitement during the whole show. There ought to be some sign of life requirement to have those coveted front row spaces!
With me was my girlfriend Ellen, her sister Cheryl and my new friend Janet, who is a friend of Ellen’s and Sue’s. Standing with us was a very nice young man named Joey, who was there with his mom, Terry. They were adorable, reminding us of another close mom and son we know! Joey is a professional dancer and Terry even had an envelope with his cover shot and resume in it. We all knew we had to get Joey as close to the front as possible, because he was definitely Adam’s type! And this was something he wanted too!
Cheryl, Ellen, Carol and Janet

While we were waiting for the night to begin, there was a large screen to the side of the stage that we could text a message to. Some really funny, sentimental and outright gross comments made it up on that screen. We were all amused, but the best comment had to be about Neil. You all know Negative Neil, right? Adam’s brother, who is having the summer job we all wish we had – to be a production assistant on the Glam Nation Tour! Someone sent a message to the board, and it got Neil tweeting as the concert was in progress. Someone tweeted “neil is hotter” on adam’s jumbotron at the show tonight. We all died laughing.” He also sent this tweet to follow: If anyone has photo evidence, it is desperately needed. That was followed by: I mean photo evidence of the jumbotron, people. come on. Neil’s a scream, as usual!
Because she was under 21, Allison Iraheta couldn’t perform at the Casino. This also was the case with Taylor, one of Adam’s dancers. So we had only Orianthi to warm us up before Adam would take the stage. She was very good, and with this being the second time in as many days to hear her, her songs were now sounding familiar and catchy. But honestly someone needs to give her (and most performers) a little coaching on public speaking. So I’ll do it. Slow down when you talk to the audience. We can’t understand you, especially when you have an accent! And we would have loved for you to introduce your band, like Adam does. This goes for Allison Iraheta too. The band members are so talented and deserve some spotlight recognition!
Allison Iraheta rocking out in Milwaukee.

During the Milwaukee show, Orianthi came onstage with Allison.

Orianthi wailing on the guitar at the Horshoe Casino.

Then it was time for Adam. The voice, the costumes, the band, the lasers, I was so excited! I couldn’t believe that Adam was including Ring of Fire in his 3-song opening! I love the irony of how on American Idol, Country was the one genre Adam was least looking forward to singing. Yet his ultra sexy version of Ring of Fire really started the love affair between him and many of his fans across the country and world. My placement right next to the stage put me about 4 feet away from him when he was at the front. And oh was he gorgeous, and he sounded perfect, as he always does. I was in a complete state of euphoria. Being this close, you get to see things that are missed by most. Like the quick smiles between him and the band members or the communication with the sound mixers off stage. We could hear the entire audience singing along with every song. It was so loud he had to hear it too. You get to see every pore on his beautiful face, get the textile sensations when you look at his incredible wardrobe (even the pieces with the “A” on the back that remind me of Alvin and the Chipmunks!), and even see that sexy chest expand with his breathing. Okay Carol, let’s take it back a few steps!
Here’s my video of Adam’s opening Hammond set - after Brad Walsh’s FYE remix: Voodoo, Down the Rabbit Hole & Ring of Fire.
You can catch all the videos on YouTube, but I’ll include a few of my favorites here.
Something that I’ve noticed about these concerts verses that iconic Fantasy Springs show was that Adam is so much more confident on stage, if that’s even possible. And unlike other performances in the past, he never mixed up his lyrics. He’s really become that true superstar that we all knew he’d be.
Adam singing Whattya Want From Me, about 4 feet away!

EDITED WITH NEW TIMES: My favorite number that night was If I Had You. I love how his face lights up when he approaches the audience at 2:38. Check out his tongue action at 3:34 and how friendly he gets with choreographer Brooke. My heart still beats fast every time I see this!
**Sorry, the Hammond version I was talking about has been pulled. I’ve subsitituted my own video, shot at Milwaukee 2 days earlier. If you can find the Hammond version, treasure it!
If I Had You - Milwaukee
I FOUND ANOTHER VERSION FROM HAMMOND!!
I got a little personal thrill about midway through the concert. Lila and I had been two of about 12 people at the baby shower last month for guitarist Monte Pittman’s wife, Lisa. Monte attended the shower for Lisa and opened all our presents, since Lisa was on sudden bed rest. As a surprise, Tommy Joe also came and stayed the whole time, chatting with us like we were old friends. Being so close to the stage that night, Monte recognized me in the crowd when he came forward to play, and greeted me a few times during the evening with big smiles and head nods. It was great, but I wished I would have known that Sue stumbled upon the busses the concert before in Milwaukee, getting to spend time talking with both Monte and Tommy Joe!
We had heard through the grapevine that depending on his mood and how he feels about the audience, he’d decide whether the encore would be Mad World or Whole Lotta Love. At Fantasy Springs we all were passing out from the raw, organic performance he gave of WLL, and had always hoped he’d perform it again. In Milwaukee, we were thrilled that he chose WLL. But at the Horseshoe Casino, he gave us both!
Mad World –Whole Lotta Love - Hammond/Horseshoe Casino This is the video I shot - I hope it’s okay.
If you have any chance to see Adam on his Glam Nation Tour this summer, please go for it! You’ll never experience anything else like it. I’ve discovered that you have to follow your passions. Strive in life for what you think is crazy, and instead of beating yourself up for it, you’ll thank yourself later. I know I did my whole plane ride home!
~ Carol ~
***Disclaimer – I’m not advocating trying to get out of jury duty. We have a much-envied and highly sought-after justice system, and I’m proud to serve. But dang it, it just worked out this way!!***
While we’re in the debut week of Adam Lambert’s awesome Glam Nation Tour, I thought it would be kind of amusing to throw this out there. All of this is true, I promise!
My first week of jury duty was in February: the week that was ending with Adam’s Fantasy Springs concert. Of course I was going to the concert! My jury duty number was 118, so I knew I’d get called in to report towards the end of the week. When I called in on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I wasn’t needed. My number would be the next called, to report on Friday. But Sue (yes, our other incredible author on the web site) was flying out to San Diego Friday, and my BFF Lila (our web site administrator) was picking her up and the three of us were supposed to head to the desert (3 hour drive) for the first of our many weekends-to-come of Glam God Greatness. So I went to jury duty that morning and rescheduled. I had to pick a week at random, so I chose the week of April 12. This would be experience #1.
So here I am the week of April 12 with 108 as my group number now. But OMG, Adam is appearing on American Idol that week as mentor and Wednesday was the performance show and Lila and I had tickets! So wouldn’t you know it, Tuesday when I called in, they said I was to report the next day. I can’t believe I did this, but instead of going to jury duty, I went up to LA with Lila, having to leave San Diego well before 8 AM to get in line early. I called the jury commissioner from line and rescheduled . . . again! This time, I chose the week of June 7. Now we have me getting out of jury duty because of Adam for a second time.
Now it’s June 7. Sorry, you need a little back story here. In between scheduling jury duty and now, I’ve also decided that I’m flying to Milwaukee on June 14 to join Sue and Ellen on their AdamTourTrek, attending both Milwaukee and Hammond’s shows next week. Sue knows Ellen through their hometown Glamb group in the Chicago area and I got to know and love Ellen at Fantasy Springs.
Back to June 7, the beginning of my week of jury duty. I was in Las Vegas last week helping my sister move in. While I was driving back from Vegas last Friday, I remembered that I needed to start calling in for jury duty that weekend. So I’m on the phone Monday morning around 10 AM, I open the kitchen cabinet to look at my calendar posted on the inside of the cabinet door, and OH CRAP!!! I was supposed to have called in that weekend for jury duty. They got smart and assigned me Group 101 this time. Of course I’d be called in for Monday. OMG – what am I going to do?? It may not sound like it, but I’ve always been a goody-goody. Oh, what has Adam done to me? Are the Jury Police going to show up at my door?!? For the heck of it, I called the recording just to see how many groups they took. Oh man, I’m saved!! They didn’t call in ANY groups!! I can’t believe my luck. I call Monday after 5 PM for Tuesday, and again they didn’t call any groups in! But my luck ran out and I had to report on Wednesday. So Wednesday morning comes and I report in at 7:45 AM. They welcome the roomful of sleepy, grumpy, patriotic citizens and tell us most cases are from 1-3 days and if we have any conflicts and can’t commit to serving for that amount of time then we need to go up to the desk and reschedule. Now, I have been called to jury duty three times before, and never have I been put on a jury. I just spent the day there waiting and wasn’t needed, so I was excused for one year. They tell us they’re only choosing jurors for 2 trials. They’ll be needing 24 people, plus a few more for alternates, right? There were at least 100 people there. What were my chances? First trial – they don’t call my name. Phew! One down, one to go. I power my iPod up and start listening to Adam. Mmmm, sounds great. Can’t wait for next week when I get to see him LIVE! Here they go, calling names for trial #2. I put Adam on pause and cross my fingers. Wouldn’t you know it they call my name!!! Oh poop – or something like that!
We go into the courtroom, meet the judge, attorneys and defendant. Then they start asking all the potential jurors (36 of us) questions. It takes forever. It seems EVERYONE in the room that day has prior experience with, or knows someone who is a policeman, customs agent, trial attorney, etc. Some are ER nurses who have to work with victims of drug abuse. Our case is involving a man on probation that was caught with a gun, ammunition, and controlled substances. It is taking forever to listen to my co-jurors name everyone in their contact book, then answer the question of whether this information will bias them. And of course everyone says “no!” They say this trial should probably conclude next Wednesday. OH CRAPPP!!!! I’m flying to Milwaukee to start my Summer of Adam on MONDAY!!!!
On our first break, I go back to the waiting room and tell the desk lady “I’m so sorry; I completely forgot that I’m flying out of town next Monday. I can’t be put on a jury.” She looks at me with that “you’re telling me this NOW?” expression. She admonishes me like a school child stating “you should have told me this earlier this morning.” I look down and say “I know. I’m so sorry.” She instructs me to go back upstairs and tell the judge. We were still on break and they call out my juror number. I go in the courtroom and it’s everyone but the jurors inside. The judge already knows I was just downstairs and says something about me not being able to serve. That I need to go back and reschedule. (At least the cute attorney smiled at me.) I go back downstairs and the desk lady asks for my badge and scans it. Then she says, “okay, goodbye.” What I don’t have to reschedule? “No, you’re done.”
So that’s it!! Yay!!! That’s how Adam Lambert got me out of jury duty, three times!! If I get another notice, of course I’ll go in. Unless it’s during Costa Mesa or Las Vegas week!!!

P.S. I know I’ve been gone for a while. Some jerko hacked into my email account, loading me up with viruses and was sending spam after spam, mostly for products to give others a Glam Bulge! My computer was in the shop and I’ve had to de-install and re-install like crazy, and I’ve been out of touch. A huge thanks to Sue for completely taking over and keeping everyone filled in with everything about Adam. Sue, I love you and I can’t wait to see you tomorrow!!
Kerry Kolsch is a strong supporter of Adam Lambert and has published many articles about him. I just discovered this one when I was investigating our Forum, which until now, has gone relatively undiscovered by not only our very active Glamb community, but also by Sue and me, the authors on this web site! I just came across this article that was linked in the Forum, and found it to be really good reading. There are a couple of typos in the linked article – a few forms that should be froms! I love the talk about what Kris had to face on tour, performing after Adam. But don’t worry, the gist is good; it’s not a slam on Kris Allen. While we’re waiting to get blown away from Adam’s Glam Nation Tour, the descriptions here about last summer’s tour bring back such good (and HOT!) memories.
Adam Lambert Has Emerged as the Star of Season 8 of American Idol and Who Won?
About a year ago Adam Lambert and Kris Allen stood on the stage and Ryan Seacrest announced that Kris Allen was the winner of Season 8 of American Idol. An American Idol victory can be a fast track to fame and fortune or it can be a pop culture blip that leads to obscurity. For Kris Allen the title became quite the burden to bear. There are high expectations placed on every American Idol winner but in Allen’s case he had the added weight of being the singer who defeated Adam Lambert in a singing contest.
Allen started his American Idol reign amidst the controversy that was described as Textgate. His home state, Arkansas, produced 38 million of the almost 100 million votes that determined the winner. Many of the votes came from Watch Parties sponsored by AT&T, a corporate sponsor of American Idol. Adam Lambert was chosen to be the water boy to put out this media fire and with dignity and class advised his fans that there was no issue and that they should move on. Little did Adam know that he was misled and Arkansas did change the outcome of Season 8.

Are there things you’ve been anxious to discuss about Adam Lambert that haven’t been related to one of the articles we’ve posted? Do you want to list concert tickets you have for sale, or maybe find tickets for a certain venue? This is the perfect place to do that!
Many times Sue and I have seen discussions start on an article that have nothing to do with the topic. While these discussions sometimes take off and get lots of interest, they sort of hijack the topic, and readers who want to see comments related to the article don’t find them, and check out.
Maybe you didn’t know we have a FORUM section on this Glambsite. We haven’t promoted it before, and for that we’re sorry. There are many topics that were started, but since people didn’t know about the FORUM, never took off. But let’s see it take off now! In the FORUM, you can start your own discussions, join other discussions, or just let everyone know something you feel is important to know about Adam.
Here’s how:
1. Go to the top of this site and click on FORUM. The first box that comes up is Most Recent Topics. Keep scrolling down – bypass this list.
2. You’ll then see some boxes with the headings of Adam Lambert, American Idol, Community, and Announcements & Information. (Fernando created those headings when he originated this site and for right now, those are the ones we have to go by.)
3. Click one of these BLUE headings. Discussions already in progress will appear. You can contribute to one of these.
*** If you were a user of the forums on the American Idol website, you’ll feel right at home now!
4. If you want to start your own discussion, click on any discussion in the main heading you want it to appear in. then click the Add Topic button. I would imagine most things will go under Adam Lambert or Announcements & Information.
5. Name your topic in the title box, type your comments in the text box, and click Post New Topic below the text box.
I just started a topic under Announcements for concert tickets called Adam’s Concerts – Who has extra tickets? Who’s looking for tickets? Let’s use this one heading all summer for Concert Tickets. If everyone who has a different city to post for starts a new topic, the info will be too hard to find and the Forum will get muddied up with multiple ticket listings.
Help your discussion succeed by commenting about it on Twitter and Facebook. Remember to give the Heading/Title so people can find it!
I’m really excited to see this succeed and hope you will enjoy it. We really can do a lot of good with an active FORUM! But please Glambs, let’s keep it clean! We know about all of Adam’s “gifts” and what we’d like to do if we had a moment or three alone with him! But here’s a required warning: If topics are posted that are found to be inappropriate, they will be deleted.
Can’t wait to hear back from you and see your input!

The flashing of the lights - - yes, it felt so good watching Adam and the band rock their glitter off performing If I Had You! Did you catch Adam’s and Tommy’s face designs? How about the always-cute siding up next to each other? And what about those zebrafied sparkly pants?!? This is Adam’s third time on Jay Leno’s shows - - Jay is such a fan! Catch this performance and brace yourself for the Glam Nation Tour!!

USA Today has come out with the 5 Summer Tours that offer the best value and entertainment, and of course Adam Lambert’s Glam Nation Tour has been included in that mix! I love the way they refer to us, his fans! I’ll post the write-up for Adam, but for the other four, please click here.
Adam Lambert
The dashing and colorful American Idol runner-up headlines his first North American tour.
Setting the stage: Lambert’s Glam Nation tour kicks off June 4 in Wilkes-Barre, PA., with more than 30 concerts to follow. Shows are currently scheduled through Sept. 18 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Why it’s a tour de force: Lambert, a dazzling singer, set the Idol standard for showmanship, and his devoted fan base will turn out in full force. The tour’s support acts — flame-haired fellow Idol finalist Allison Iraheta and Australian guitarist Orianthi — make the package especially promising: Orianthi played on Lambert’s album, and Iraheta’s Slow Ride duet with Lambert was a highlight of their Idol season and the subsequent tour. — Brian Mansfield
Cost: $29-$73.50

Attention Glambs – San Diego’s Radio Sophie 103.7 has a challenge every night, where they ask listeners to vote on 2 new songs not currently in their rotation. The winner comes back nightly until defeated. Last night was the debut of Adam Lambert’s If I Had You, and it won against 6-night champion Bob Schneider’s 40 Dog! I’m sure if the winner stays on long enough, the song will be put into regular rotation.
The challenge is in the 9 PM hour, but you can vote online RIGHT NOW!! I’m not “encouraging” those outside San Diego to participate, but I know you’re free to do whatever you want. We don’t want him disqualified if a massive amount of votes come in that could not be from San Diego listeners, so please everyone vote with caution! Remember what happened with WWFM? Check back every morning to see if he won, and keep voting.
***Right now he’s ahead of Speakers by Days Difference 76% - 24%. Let’s keep him on. He’s already moved up from 73% - 27% in the last 10 minutes!
**UPDATE - He won Friday’s vote 83.5% - 16.5%! Let’s keep him champ for a LONG time! Then IIHY will certainly be played regularly!! Check back Monday, and each day following to cast your vote.
Vote here for Adam!
If you know of similar opportunities elsewhere in the country, please comment below and we’ll make sure it gets posted also.

****NEW VIDEO ADDED - 5/6/10******
GlamNation Promo Video - Are you sitting down??
Oh this concert is going to blow everyone out of the water!
I’m just wondering how many of you just went through the hair pulling experience of trying to buy tickets to any one of Adam’s shows that went on pre-sale this morning? I have a new term for this ticket-buying anxiety. I call it “Glamxiety!” By the way, if you haven’t tried to buy tickets yet, VOODOO is the code word for all the shows, and will be active for a day or two more.
I’m sure we all were hitting the “refresh” button on our keyboards this moring at 9:57 AM, making sure we could purchase the best seats the second they went on sale. I was buying the Costa Mesa/July 27 show. At 10:00:01 Ticketmaster was saying the back terrace sections were the best available??? WTF??? After rejecting these I kept trying. Over the next 20 minutes I was able to come up with some better seats, but certainly not front and center I was hoping for. I am really excited knowing that I’ll be seeing Adam on his Glam Nation Tour! I just wanted to be close enough to catch the flying glitter! Rumor has it that the scalper operations have special software that somehow gets into Ticketmaster 1 or 2 minutes early. This would sure explain what happened to everyone I’ve already spoken with, who were also trying like crazy for tickets.
If you have extra seats for any of Adam’s concerts and are willing to post them here, please feel free. This would be a way to make sure the concerts are filled with the Glambs who have become some of your best friends! Please don’t give price info though - just give an email address you feel safe revealing. That way, people who are interested can contact you and the pricing will be a private party issue.
Hopefully more tour dates will be announced and we will all be able to see Adam on his rise to superstar stature. Because once this tour is over, he’ll be there in everyone’s eyes baby eyes!! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!!)

From fine clocks to cheese and chocolate, Swizterland has a lot to boast about. Well, so does America with our own Adam Lambert! I’m so glad the rest of the world is taking such good care of him and showing him their love and devotion. You’ll see (or at least hear!) from these videos that Adam is truly doing what he was born to do.
Here’s the latest in from Zurich, Switzerland. Sorry for the lack of lighting on these videos. Until I can find better quality, we’ll have to let his magnificent voice serenade us. And really, haven’t we all dreamed about this?!?
He’s really having a good time going back-and-forth with the audience. I would have loved more of this at Fantasy Springs. This looked more like a club, so maybe he slipped back into the Upright Cabaret persona. He starts getting really chatty, which I think shows how relaxed he is on the stage. Either that or he’s enjoyed some “European Libation!!”
I especially love the rockin’ version of Mad World at the end. Best version I’ve ever heard!!
Enjoy!

Whattaya Want From Me -
Sleepwalker
Music Again
Broken Open
Mad World
Here’s another wonderful video from last week that I just found!
We start with Adam answering questions at 3FM radio station in Amsterdam with Michiel:
Here’s Adam and his full band performing acoustic versions of Whattaya Want From Me and Music Again at the station:
Adam has given us a new song to fall in love with, Can’t Let You Go. And after five times listening to it, I can’t even tell you what it’s doing to me. It’s on the European release of the For Your Entertainment CD. Oh, those lucky people. First Voodoo, and now this!
I can’t wait for the video. If we thought Whattaya Want From Me showed his emotional side, this one will go 10 steps further. You can hear his heart tearing out on this recording. I have never been moved by a performer before and this is the second song of his that has me crying. There is no doubt that Adam reaches a level so rare in the music industry. Only opera singers have regularly moved their audiences to tears. How can this be happening? If he performs this on his GlamNation Tour, we have to remember to bring tissues!
~ Carol, Glamb #7 ~
Adam performed an acoustic set of WWFM and was interviewed on Dutch TV last week by host Paul de Leeuw. Don’t worry, they start speaking in English as soon as Adam’s introduced. (If anyone can translate the beginning of the video for us, please let us know!)** EDIT: Look for Kellie’s comment below with the translation. It’s the first comment. Thanks Kellie!
We learn that the cute guy with the host is Jim Bakkum. He was the runner-up of Dutch Idols in 2003. The host has a great sense of humor and jokes with both Jim and Adam. Listen for Adam’s unfiltered response when he learns that Jim is not gay and also not 16. Can you imagine American hosts being so relaxed about this subject, that they could joke like this too? What a better world we’d live in.
~ Carol, Glamb #7 ~
And here he is leaving the studio. This really isn’t very exciting but I want you to have everything!
Short and sweet: Here are more great videos from Adam Lambert’s trip to Finland to add to your day’s required viewing!
~ Carol ~
Adam arrives in Helsinki, Finland.
Adam at Stockmann’s department store, graciously greeting his fans and giving autographs.
Live Interview - Adam is incredibly funny at the end where he goes on and on with ideas for his Ultimate Concert - the one with no buget limits!
Adam recieved a very unique gift from this interviewer. I wonder when we’ll see him performing in it?
YLE Radio Interview from last month:
Adam was all a “twitter” last night giving his fans immediate messages about If I Had You as his next single.
Starting with the cover art:
Check it
Followed by his instruction to us (spelling is edited):
Request ‘If I Had You’ at your favorite radio station now!!! Let’s blow this sh*t up!!!
Then to make sure we knew who to credit with the gorgeous cover:
Then a reminder, with a very valid caution to us:
Request IF I HAD YOU w your fav radio station but remember: once a day! Don’t abuse the privledge!
I love you all so much!
Then he just got all happy giving us three tweets with the lyrics: (we’re thrilled to get his tweets, even if he made a slip or two on the lyrics, right?)
“There’s a thin line tween a dark side and a light side”
“there’s a thin line tween a wild time and a flatline”
“the flashing of the lights- It might feel so good, but I got you stuck on my mind!”

When the above picture was prematurely released as the supposed cover art for If I Had You, some of the fanworld was again thrown into a bit of a tizzy over the selection. Remember the reactions to the For Your Entertainment CD cover art? But if people had taken a breath and waited, they might have realized they’d seen this picture before. At least, the people who buy the actual CD, not just get the download version. It was the first picture inside the CD booklet. You know, the one where most of us need magnifying glasses to read the lyrics in!
But now the true picture has been revealed. I’m very glad that we have new art to look at - when will the Museum of Adam Lambert open?!?! I want posters!!
Let us know your thoughts. Cast your vote in the comments - would you have preferred this as the CD cover?
~ Carol ~
Here’s the official picture:

Adam Lambert is continuing on his World Domination Promo Tour. He just landed in Finland yesterday. Well, it was more like 2 days ago considering the time zone differences, but for what it’s worth, it was May 1 on the calendar! He must be finding the Finns (edited, thanks FinnFan!) very beautiful, with amazing eyes. Both Adam and Tommy are tweeting about that! He gave another amazing performance of Whattaya Want From Me? on Finland’s X-Factor and lent some valuable advice for reality show contestants. Gosh, he ought to be going down in some record book for giving the largest number of different performances of the same song. And they’re ALL beautiful! I can’t wait to see him in his new hat! I wonder what it looks like?!?
Enjoy these tweets and videos!

Adam Interviewed on Finnish X-Factor. Everyone must be fluent in English there, because the contestants are sure responding to his comments!
Adam keeps bouncing around all of Europe and now Scandinavia, but always manages to give great interviews. It’s uncanny how direct, open and honest he is. This is from a teen magazine in Finland. It’s one of the best interviews I’ve read. Hope you think so too!

About the career:
What is the most personal song on your album?
- Broken Open. It’s about intimacy, that moment when someone is ready to release the wall around them and show himself to other, show good and bad side of him. The other says it’s okay, I accept you just the way you are.
Did you find writing process of the song hard for you?
- No, it felt good. It was like therapy.
There’s a song called Voodoo on the new version of your album. Who would you like to make a voodoo doll and why?
- Bill Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel! He’s so cute, so beautiful.
Wait, are you jealous of him, why are you thinking of making a doll?
- No, the opposite. He attracts me, he’s so appealing. I would like to meet him. I would like to go shopping with him!
You just came here from Germany. Why didn’t your meeting take place then?
- He’s busy. And straight. That’s why the doll, hehe!
Has anyone of your friends started to act differently after you became famous?
- A few of my friends were scared I would draw myself away from them. I had to convince them that wouldn’t happen and I still love them even though I am busy. Some of buddies - not my friends - wanted suddenly be so close with me. Didn’t work out!
About love:
Who was your first love?
- My ex boyfriend, we started dating when I was 25 years old. It was awesome and beautiful. We were together for two years.
Why did you break up?
- I guess we just grew apart. In the end we wanted different things. I learnt and grew up so much during our relationship. We’re still friends and I think that’s great.
How did you manage to accept your sexuality when you were young?
- It was hard during my teen years. I had no one to look up to. I didn’t know anyone else that was gay, not a single one person. Internet did exist but there was no Facebook or MySpace yet. There were some chats but I was afraid of them like pestilence, I was afraid of losing my anonymity and someone would find out. I felt myself like an alien, totally different from the others. I knew that things will work out when it’s time but at school I couldn’t talk about it to anyone.
When and how did you tell your parents?
- My mom dragged me out of closet! She asked me once if I had a girlfriend. I said no. “Would you like to get one?” “No.” “Well do you have a boyfriend?” “No.” “Would you like to have?” “Yeah!”
Well that was easy.
- While discussing about it my mom told me she always had known I was gay. I wondered why didn’t she tell me sooner. She had talked about it with some people and they had convinced her she shouldn’t push me. They said I would tell her when I was ready. I said her you should have pushed!
What kind of advice would you give to our readers that are wondering their sexual orientation?
- It’s hard to be different. If you feel like lonely believe there are a lot of people like you in the world. Some day you will get to know them and you will accepted. Try to think positive. If people think of you negative don’t care about them. Their opinion doesn’t matter.
What kind of person are you in your relationships?
- I am independent. I’ve always succeeded on my own. Sort of, that was the reason I was lonely for a long time. If I’m not interested in someone I become very unaffiliated. It’s been scary to notice how quick I might become codependent of my boyfriend. I have to work on finding balance between my traits.
Are you jealous?
- I always thought I wouldn’t. I am quite realistic and good to discuss about every subject but in the end… yeah, I’m damn jealous. Possessive and jealous.
How do you act when you go to jealous mode?
- I try to get out of it. Discussing about it with the other person usually helps. I’ve learnt a lot of myself and understood I am intensively passionate personality. Apparently there’s too much to handle sometimes but that’s who I am. And some people like intensive!
Are you seeing someone right now?
- No. I’m single.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
- I believe in strong mutual attraction and intuition at first sight, and one might foresee someone being special. For falling in love I however have to get to know with the person better.
About me:
Describe yourself with three words.
- Intensive. Friendly. Talkative.
Which word would your friends add to that?
- A bit of crazy. (laughs)
Which appearance related things were you insecure while being a teen?
- Where should I start from? I worried about my weight, body, skin - that is a problem still - and my masculinity. It’s needed differently in America than in Europe. I love European culture with masculine sense of beauty are different. Over here masculine beauty and cuteness is appreciated.
How did you get away from your insecurity?
- One by one I understood they don’t matter. I started to notice good characters about myself and love myself from inside. I believe when someone is on first-name basis with themselves they look attractive in eyes of the others. Not everyone can look like a model. The most important is accepting yourself and understand there are more important things in the world than what do you look like. It’s useless try to be perfect because no one is.
When and why did you cry the last time?
I regress to a baby while watching the movies and tv series. When I watched the 4th season “Skins” a while ago I started to bawl whena girl couple Naomi and Emily had an intimate moment. Actors in Skins are so great!
About people:
Which nicknames do your close ones call you?
- Family and friends don’t nickname me but my fans call me Glambert. I think that fits to me!
Who is the most important person in your life?
- (thinking) Probably my parents. My family… my mom.
When do you come to meet your fans in Finland? You’re way more popular in here than in Sweden!
- That’s what I heard! You’ve got good taste. Hopefully I can visit soon!
After the interview it’s been confirmed Adam performs in X Factor Finland on 2nd May.
Adam in short analysis
We gave a word, Adam replied the first word bumped to his mind.
Scary - Sadness
Joy - Singing
Envy - Luck
Inspiration - Glitter
Nature - Green
Happiness - Satisfaction
Beauty - Confidence
***ADDITION: SEE BELOW*****
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in the audience for one of the American Idol tapings? Well, Glamb Leader Lila Hayes and I were lucky enough to get tickets for the April 14th taping, the one with Adam Lambert singing! I’m still breathing hard and can’t believe our luck!! You all know Lila, she’s my partner in crime for ATA – All Things Adam.
After realizing we were going the day that Adam would be there, we left San Diego bright and early, hoping we’d be in the front of the line. The emailed confirmation says admission is not guaranteed, and that it is for standing room only. We figured maybe they overbook and give out more tickets than they have room for, to guarantee a full house? Maybe that’s the reason they state admission is not guaranteed? I don’t have an official answer, but I have my theory, which will be answered later. Depending on the day you’re attending, you’re told what time to arrive by. We had a 4:15 report time for the 6 PM taping. Being cautious, we arrived at 12:30 PM and the line was already 20 strong, mostly wearing black and leather! We made friends with those standing in front and back of us and found out that people had flown in from all over the country for this show. We knew the amount of people in front of us could increase if not everyone in their parties were present. When you register for tickets and you get your response email, you have a choice of 3 links to click on for tickets. The Tuesday Dress Rehearsal, Tuesday Live Performance Show or Wednesday Live Results Show. If you’ve responded to that email quickly enough (about an hour maximum response time!), you’ll be able to then select the number in your party, up to 4. The day of the show, all people in your party must be present to enter – no late arrivals. By 4 PM, the line had grown to about 100.
At our 4:15 PM entrance time, we were led to two sitting areas just outside the studio entrance door, for about 45 minutes. We had to turn in our cameras, cell phones and iPods to the security team, so we’ve got no pictures to share with you, only memories. We were given fabric stickers with the Idol logo and were told to put them below our waist, so they wouldn’t be seen on camera. We saw the cute young girls had a “G” marked on their stickers by the “evaluators.” We were sure they would be the ones in the mosh pits to the sides of the judges. At this time, we also saw a large number of people who had actual hard tickets, not just emails like the rest of us had. Hmmmm. I went up to a couple of these ticket holders and asked how they got their tickets. It turned out they were the “friends of Fox and friends of the sponsors.” It was amazing how many of them there were! They were brought into the studio first, which only left about 40 of us. We were now not feeling so certain about getting in. I think this is why they say admission not guaranteed. Maybe they have no idea how many “friends” are showing up?? I was now convinced our early arrival was the only way to go.
After we gained entrance to the studio, Lila and I looked around quickly to try and find a great seat. The studio is filled with seats so I have no idea why the email says “standing room only?” Luckily someone was saying “ladies, come this way.” We weren’t sure if they were talking to us or the ones in front of us, but once we saw that they were being directed to the standing mosh pit, we jumped alongside of them. Lila and I looked at each other with our eyes wide open saying “do we want to be standing here or sitting down?” Very strange considering she and I had just returned a few days earlier from Phoenix, where we went for our second Muse concert. (For Muse, we will only consider having the standing floor tickets. We had been at the Las Vegas concert a few months earlier and all the jumping with the crowd that was smashed up against us had us fearing for our safety, but it was a high like no other!) Sorry, I’m off subject! We quickly saw that only the high side seats were open, so of course we now became 20 years younger in our minds, glued ourselves to the floor and hugged each other, not believing our incredible good fortune. The 20-something girls were in the front and luckily they were short! We were about 3 rows behind them. We were on the Randy Jackson side of the stage, about 10 feet away from where the contestants would be sitting! OMG!!! Forget the contestants, we couldn’t believe we’d be seeing Adam from there too!!! I made it a point to start taking everything in and commit it to picture memory. Everything we’ve been seeing at home from our couches for 9 years now. The red contestant seats, the judges table and chairs, the American Idol signs up in the air, the stairs where Adam strutted down singing Feeling Good! OMG – I couldn’t believe how lucky we were.
Quickly everything started happening. The lights went down, the familiar music started, our hearts started beating harder, and then we heard Ryan with his introduction. You know, the famous one that ends “this . . . is American Idol!” The lights came up and he was walking down those stairs that Adam owns now, and introduced all four judges. You know, you all watched the show. Now I have absolutely no allegiance to anyone on the show this year. In fact, last year I vowed that I wouldn’t pick up the phone once this year. And I’m certainly not getting another AT&T Go Phone, like I did for the final month of voting last season. I’m sure it’s the same for many of you. We’ve all said that we knew from this point last year that Idol would never be the same. Adam has ruined it! No one will ever come close to having his talent, looks and charisma. You know – the “It” factor. Even Adam said it during his brilliant mentoring sessions. The contestants need to wake up! But somehow, being only a few feet away from the remaining 9, I started to see more in them. Being that close, they became real people. They have real emotions, real feelings, and are all nervous, trying to establish themselves in show business. I could see subtle changes in their facial expressions and how they carried themselves as they listened to comments about them and while they endured the results.
During the commercials, we were able to talk with the judges and the contestants. A day before the taping, I had an email that Tim Urban was following me on Twitter. So, Tim was on the seat closest to our mosh pit, only about 5 feet away. I called to him, and he immediately looked at me and stood up and came over to talk with me. I told him I had just gotten an email saying he was following me on Twitter, and he broke into a big “Tim Urban smile.” He told me they had taken all of their Twitter accounts away and someone is impersonating him. I told him I had read about them not using their own Twitter accounts and I wasn’t surprised, but that I just thought it was funny! He gave me a big smile and I wished him luck, and he’s now become a favorite of mine. I know he doesn’t sing as well as Crystal or Lee or Big Mike or Casey . . . but heck, he smiled at me!!!
Watching Aaron walk on stage to get his verdict, I thought he didn’t look well. Even with all the makeup, he still seemed pale. When he was declared “safe” and went back to the contestants area, he looked no better. During the next commercial, Lee was sitting in the closest seat so I called to him and asked if Aaron was okay. He turned around to look at him, and then he turned back to me and said “he’s nervous.” Wow, to still be so affected even after he was “safe.” His youth started shooting out at this point, and I thought about my son who was his age only a few years ago. Instead of a polished performer who put himself out there to be judged, in my mind he then became as close as a “neighbor’s son” – someone you looked after when your friend needed help. I guess what I’m trying to say is I won’t be so judgmental with my comments about this year’s gang. Even though, in my eyes they will professionally never be as good as Adam, they became real that afternoon.
Okay, now I’m going to try to describe what happened next; the reason so many of us were there. During the break, they brought out the microphone stands, keyboards and drums and Monte, Longineu and Tommy came out. Tommy walked over to our side and waved. I’m sure Camilla was there, but we couldn’t see her on the other side. The lights went down, Ryan started talking, and we started screaming. It was obvious how much of the audience was there strictly because of whom else was there that day! The fog started to fill the entire stage and the cone light began beaming down. The music began. The light shone upon Adam’s face and he looked so incredibly magical singing from within the lace print of the fog and lights. Oh that voice. It was perfect, perfect, perfect. Here I was, seeing Adam sing Whattaya Want From Me for the third time in four months. And no two times were ever the same. Lila and I were at the Leno taping in December, Fantasy Springs in February, and now Idol. I have to say, this was my favorite version! Then the strength of the song broke out and the lasers started. You could see the joy in his eyes. He was so into the emotion of the song, careful not to betray his commitment with a smile. He came over to our side and kneeled down with his hand out. Just like when he sang Black or White last year and went to the mosh pit, put his hand out and laughed while he was singing. I wonder if he was thinking about that too? I’ve read comments from him about how great it was to be back on the same stage, like he was home. I wondered if he was reliving any of his past moments on stage? Then he started singing “thanks for loving me” and he smiled so genuinely, knowing he was thanking everyone present for helping him realize his dreams. He ended the song with such a dramatic note, that I wondered if he did it purposely to slam Simon with it! It makes you wonder, why is it okay for an established singer to use the lights, fog and lasers, but not a contestant trying to show they’re the one to pick for stardom?
My only wish was that after singing, the judges would give their comments on him! Oh to hear them rave about him would have made it full circle for so many of us, Adam included! But I’m sure Simon would have said something about the fog and lasers! In fact, when the show was over, Simon walked in front of our mosh pit on his way out, and he shook hands and spoke briefly with several people. Not being shy, I called out “Simon, what did you think of Adam’s performance?” He looked at me and said he “thought it was great. But I couldn’t see it with all the fog.” I added, “not too theatrical for you?” He laughed.
As an added bonus, we were held in the studio for two more hours after the show was over. They had to film some sequences that they’ll be showing on the Idol Gives Back show this week. There’s a part where Russell Brand and Jonah Hill will be at the phone banks, talking to Ryan about the celebrities they have answering phones and taking donations. Well, they’re comments were pre-filmed, so Ryan had to insert his part in the conversation. This took many starts and stops, leaving Ryan turning to us and taking questions and making wisecracks, filling the gaps of time. I love Ryan! He is such an accomplished professional and does such a great job. This began about 30 minutes after the show taping ended. Did you notice in the filmed interview with Adam “the next day” on Ryan’s radio show, that they’re wearing the same clothes as on the show? Ryan with his shirt and tie, and Adam in that incredible silver jacket, tie and “let me stare at your beautiful face” make up? We now think during this 30 minute gap, they were doing the interview. Then they started tearing down the stage, and Ryan thanked us for hanging around, saying they had one more bit they needed to do that our presence was required for. After the stage was set, Lady Antebellum came out and performed a full rehearsal and 2 full performance versions of their hit, Need You Now. This was indeed a very lucky day!
***JUST ADDED****
As soon as I submitted this, I checked my email and there was something from Idol Gives Back. It seems they didn’t sell enough seats, and are giving out tickets for tomorrow’s performance! You have to have the special code to get these tickets, and it’s nontransferrable or I’d include it here for you westerners!
So Lila and I are hitting the road again, sooner than we thought. They say it may be a seat filler, so you may not sit with your group, and may have to move a few times. But then they say many times you see the whole show from the same seat. When I went online to look for tickets yesterday, there were a lot of seats available in the orchestra section. They were asking $200 for them. In this economy, that obviously isn’t flying! Maybe Adam will be there afterall, since the ash kept him from flying to the U.K. and scheduled performers can’t fly here?! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed!
******************************
We finally left the studio at 9 PM, starving. Lila and I had a great dinner at The Cheesecake Factory, still bubbling about our great fortune. We never stopped talking about it for the 3 hour drive home. After watching our DVRs closely the next day to see any glimpses of ourselves on camera to prove we were there, we have to say you’ll just have to take our word for it! I think I saw myself from the back for 3 seconds, jumping up and down clapping for Adam after he finished singing. And I did see 2 seconds of Lila’s right arm in her cool bronze-colored jacket!
If we find out that Adam is going to be on Idol again, I’m sure we’ll be in our car, bright and early again, ready for another great adventure!

While surfing around the net this morning, I found this very appealing story. We’ve already seen Adam as a vampire over Halloween, so why not push for it? The main part of this article talks about Idol, but at the end, he asks for our help!

Here’s Adam putting the “bite” on Twilight director Katherine Hardwick. True Blood can’t be far behind!
And if that wasn’t enough - - -

The following article is by Lindzi Scharf of TV Guide Magazine.

Those who think Ryan Seacrest should change his send off from “Seacrest Out” to “Seacrest Out-of-it!”—back off! According to one famous American Idol alum, the host’s odd on-screen antics were the result of multi-tasking.
“He’s a hard worker,” Adam Lambert told TV Guide Magazine. “He’s got a really busy schedule. I’m sure every once in a while, he gets tired. I’m sure that’s the explanation.”
The season eight standout, who was on hand for last week’s questionable behavior, admitted he was just happy to be back. “It was really exciting,” he said. “It was like a homecoming seeing all the familiar faces and the crew and the judges. It was awesome!”
After his highly publicized Idol appearance, Lambert landed back in the spotlight on Saturday at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles where he performed for an adoring crowd that included honorees Drew Barrymore, Wanda Sykes, and the cast of Glee.
“There will be sparkles and dancers!” he promised, before hitting the stage to perform Music Again and Fever off his debut album For Your Entertainment. “Visibility in the entertainment world is important for the gay and lesbian community. That’s our first line of progression. It’s just as important to show diversity within the gay and lesbian community. We’re getting there. We’re getting better. Baby steps.”
Meanwhile, the singer is ready for his close-up. “I’d love to be on True Blood,” he divulged. “I want to be a vampire rocker. I’m putting it out there through you. Hopefully it’ll get back to them.”
I just found this Canadian article about Adam mentoring this week on American Idol. I love the references by American Idol Musical Director Michael Orland. Because we know that Michael loved Adam! Read on, and keep your fingers crossed that Adam will get lots of screen time this week as mentor. I can hardly wait to hear the judges comments on air about Adam’s tutelage! It’s HUGE that Adam is the first previous Idol contestant to serve as mentor. But we knew if anyone would do it, it would be Adam!

Idol welcomes back Adam Lambert
By Alex Strachan, Canwest News Service April 11, 2010
Adam Lambert may strike some Idolators as an offbeat choice to mentor an occasionally - and some might say increasingly - out-of-tune and off-key final nine contestants on American Idol this week.
No one, though, short of Kris Allen, has more recent experience of - and appreciation for - what it really takes to make it to the end of TV’s most-watched, if not always talked-about, talent competitions.
(Idol’s back-to-back performances on March 30-31 - the most recent week for which accurate figures are available - scored 2.35 million and 2.25 million viewers respectively - behind only CSI and Survivor - as Canada’s most-watched programs on TV that week.)
Less than a year after he came within a glory note of standing at the centre of Idol’s winners’ circle, Glambert is a bona fide star.
More importantly from Idol’s longevity point-of-view, he could not be more different - as a recording artist, as a musical stylist and as a theatrical performer - than any of Idol’s previous stars, from Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks to Fantasia Barrino, Ruben Studdard, Chris Daughtry, David Cook and Clay Aiken.
In a revealing interview last month with USA Today, Idol music director Michael Orland - the one person who knows the contestants’ strengths and weaknesses better than anyone - recalled that Lambert had a finely honed professionalism from the day he auditioned for Idol, and even supervised his own staging and lighting set-ups for his weekly Idol performances.
The implication is that Lambert won’t just be an effective, one-week-only mentor: He may provide the remaining singers with the most valuable advice and inspiration they will hear in the six weeks between now and this season’s star-is-born moment in late May.
This is a key week for American Idol because, thanks to last week’s use of the judges’ save - which can only be used once in any given season - not one but two singers will be sent home this week.
That means that, barring sudden catastrophe or another ludicrous judging decision by Idol’s text-messaging ‘tweener voters, this year’s field will finally be narrowed to a handful of genuine contenders, including Crystal Bowersox (my personal favourite, and Simon Cowell’s “Chosen One”), Michael Lynche and Siobhan Magnus, the dark horse who’s growing by leaps and bounds and who I predict will be the eventual winner.
Of the performers who remain, Magnus - the wild card with a knack for unpredictability and an affinity for busting the rules wide open - has the most to gain from Lambert’s counsel. And she’s smart enough, and weird enough, to get exactly what Lambert is getting at.
Magnus would be wise to listen. According to Orland, who’s in a position to know, Lambert “was great, great, great” every week during his stay on Idol. Lambert has a reputation for taking risks, and flaunting his worth, and no one takes risks in this year’s Idol field like Magnus, the Cape Cod, Mass., teen whose musical influences are Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday and, get this, Courtney Love.
“And not even just her voice,” Magnus posted on her blog on Idol’s official website, “but her in-your-face/I-don’t-care-what-you-think-of-me-because-I’m-me presence.”
In a (mostly) laudatory review of Lambert’s back-to-back performances in Vancouver this past weekend, veteran music journalist Tom Harrison - The Vancouver Province newspaper’s seasoned music commentator, with decades of experience to call on - wrote that Lambert has the wherewithal to last longer than Idol finalists’ usual “best before” date, “and will be around for a while.”
This could be the week that, under Lambert’s tutelage, Magnus breaks out into the spotlight and, to paraphrase Simon Cowell from a couple of weeks ago, her life changes forever.
Adam Lambert and Siobhan Magnus, getting their inner freak on. Could this be the beginnings of a show-stopping duet on the Grammys in, say, 2012?

Just a head’s up: Adam’s beautiful VH1 Unplugged songs will start airing on TV beginning Friday, April 9, 11 PM Pacific. They will replay Saturday morning at 2:30 AM, and I’m sure multiple times over and over.
So, while there are some lucky Glambs seeing Adam LIVE in Canada Friday night, the rest of us will have to settle for this. Not too bad, in my opinion!
What’s that I hear? Is it the sound of all the DVRs/VHS machines being programmed?? LOL!!!

UPDATED: APRIL 6, 2010
**Keep checking back for updates!!**
We love to see Adam achieve every award, honor and dominate every voting situation he’s in, right? Maybe we’re so fervent in response to last year’s American Idol voting debacle. The VH1 Top Twenty results have been a clear sign of our power. Well, here’s another poll that we can lend our voices to. It’s the 2010 TIME 100 Poll. You’ll have to scroll down to find Adam - he’s listed at #90. After you click on his name, be sure to move the slider over to 100 (or whatever your choice), and then enter the security code. You know, those ones where you can barely make out the squiggly words?
Adam may be appearing on the list in the #90 slot, but after voting, scroll down and you’ll see he’s currently (or at least when I wrote this!) ranked at #5, behind Lady Gaga, Yu-Na Kim, Rain and Conan O’Brien. Let’s do what we can to keep Adam front and center, on his quest for Enteratainment World Domination! Keep checking back to this posting. I’ll keep it updated with how far we’re moving him up the list. You can vote time after time! Go Glambs!!
Oh, and post this on your Facebook page, Twitter account, etc.!
As of April 6, 12:40 PM Pacific:
Rank Name Avg. Rating Total Votes
1 Lady Gaga 86 192743
2 Yu-Na Kim 91 146626

There has been a book written by Kerry Kolsch, who claims that she has uncovered the evidence proving it was Adam Lambert who really won last season on American Idol. This is the same author who wrote the article I posted in “Adam Lambert Brings the “Cool” Back to Acoustic.” While I respect this author’s talent and really loved that article, I see no need for this book. It’s a 480-page, download-only book for almost $12 that details an alleged “Arkansas conspiracy” that was manufactured to give the Idol Season 8 title to Kris Allen.
Here’s part of the write-up on the book:
A singing contest became an Arkansas state endeavor involving; the local Chamber of Commerce, state politicians, churches, radio, television, newspapers, businesses, universities, banks, dancing cows and Toad Suck Queens. With the intensity of a hotly contested political election, the whole state took on Adam Lambert. The people in Kris’s home state were whipped into frenzy by a clever, professional PR team that was interweaving their own personal goals into a Kris Allen win and used a long list of sponsors to promote the cause.
Yes this sounds really juicy. And while I would have liked nothing better than for Adam to have won, as far as I’m concerned, the show is over and it’s time to move on. And if I could be so bold as to assume that I know what Adam’s thinking, he probably wants nothing to do with this. I’m sure he’d think it’s in bad tasste.
In my opinion, the only difference is it gave Kris more success than he would have had without the title. As much as I wanted Adam to wear the crown, it makes ABSOLUTELY no difference for him. Unlike the presidential election with the “hanging chads” where the Florida voting mess supposedly gave the presidency to Bush instead of Gore, it’s not like Kris got anything that Adam didn’t. Just look at the stats. Who has been heralded as the real winner by so many? Who has sold more records? Who is lighting the world on fire this very minute? Who was asked to do a move soundtrack song? Who is releasing their 3rd single? Who is already talking a summer tour as the headliner and who isn’t?
I see on Kris’ web site that he’s supporting Keith Urban on April 23 at The Joint/Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas and in July at a fair in California. He’s also playing at a theme park and supporting Daughtry in concert. He’s got about 7 dates for July, Aug and Sept. - hardly a tour!
I truly wish nothing but the best for Kris. But there’s no comparing the two - a clear case of apples and oranges.
If you’re still interested in checking out this book, here’s the link.

At least Adam is getting a little “goof off” time from his hectic international schedule. Honestly, bowling was probably the last thing I’d have expected to see Adam doing, but good for him. Cheerio! Doesn’t this looks like it’s in a club? My bowling lanes have never looked like this! Maybe they’re like that in the UK? He looks quite stylish in his shirt, vest and tie. I hope he got a few strikes. From this video, it looks like he’s bowling in his socks. Watch him sit right down and put his shoes on, not taking any off. Maybe they were out of python or glam rental shoes!

Alright, set your alarms and get your questions ready! It seems that Adam will be conducting a live chat from England early tomorrow morning! Read on for the details.
|
He wears more make-up than Jodie Marsh (almost) and has hair like Newt from Hollyoaks in his less sane days – but we still think Adam Lambert is one of the best people EVER to take part in American Idol. Tomorrow he is paying a visit to this very heat office to take part in an exclusive web chat with all you lovely people. Is there something you’ve always wanted to ask Adam? Do you have the urge to sing to him? Blow him a kiss? Give him some live make-up tips (or get him to give you some)? Tomorrow, from 10am, he will be sitting in the chair heat geek is sitting in now (moaning about his lunchtime personal trainer session, the bore) ready to answer YOUR questions. Register right now by clicking here – you know you want to! The chat will take place at 10AM UK time, which is 3 AM Pacific/6 AM Eastern. |
Hey Glambs! It’s Time to Party in Canada!! I’m sure you’re all counting down the days to Adam’s Canadian concerts, right? You’re going to have this now-confirmed world star right in front of you! I’m still out of breath when I think about the epic Fantasy Springs concert that Glamb website leaders Lila, Sue and I saw. We also had a great time at our own pre-concert party getting to meet over 40 of you who came to share your time with us, divulge Adam-stories in safety, eat and relax before the mind-blowing concert we were all attending later that evening. I’m really happy to reveal that a pre-party has been planned for you too!
Glambs party at Mimi’s Cafe before Fantasy Springs

One of the fabulous Glambs that Lila, Sue & I met at our pre-party was Maureen. And being a great Glamb, Maureen is carrying with our tradition and is organizing another pre-concert party, this time for Richmond’s River Rock concert. Here are the details:
When: April 9, 2010
Time: 5:30 PM

I just came across a great piece by Kerry Kolsch from Associate Content, and thought the author truly gets Adam, just like we all do. I especially love the part at the end about Adam’s mind-blowing version of Whole Lotta Love at Fantasy Springs. I just watched that video again, and practically had to pick myself up from the floor!
VIDEO JUST ADDED!!
After you catch your breath, enjoy reading this! I’ll start the article here, but click on the link for the entire piece. Enjoy!

Adam Lambert is the first artist performing on the April 9, 2010 revival of VH1 Unplugged with stripped down acoustic versions of four songs from his critically acclaimed album For Your Entertainment and a version of Mad World. Lambert’s album has reached Gold status in the US and Singapore and is now Platinum in Canada. The world is recognizing that a new iconic star is emerging from the shackles of a reality show.
With the new season of American Idol well underway we are reminded of the incomparable technical beauty of Lambert’s multioctave voice and of his commandeering stage presence. Lambert engaged America vocally and visually week after week with multiple musical genres, costuming lighting and even fog, not just as a singer but as an old time storyteller. Mad World, the only performance on American Idol to garner a standing ovation from Simon Cowell is also Google Trend’s highest peaking American Idol performance ever.
Last year we realized American Idol had discovered a show-stopping performer but in the context of that venue the minds of America were manipulated. After Satisfaction what was American Idol to do? Could the judges give Lambert the title and send the rest of them home? The reality show had to pretend a contest was going on.
