Adam Lambert Talks About the Grammy Nom and the New Album!

We know the Grammys are over, but I just found this great interview with Lindsey Parker and had to post it for you! It was done at the Grammy Media Summit, on February 11, 2011 at LA LIVE.

They talk a lot about the Grammys, and how Adam wanted to go solo to the event. She also asks if Adam wrote his speech and planned his Grammy outfit when he was a boy!

There’s some great talk about the For Your Entertainment album. This interview was the first time I heard Adam address the comments from the fans when the CD was first released (almost 16 months ago!) about the vocals being “a little buried or overprocessed.” He even criticizes this, but gives the reason for this. He talks in more depth about the direction for the new album. He’s moving more in the Whattaya Want From Me? direction, letting us know it’s because it’s the one “everybody loves!” It’s the Grammy-nominated song, the hit single, and ultimately the best sound for him.

There’s a lot more to enjoy, so have a good listen! Thanks to devenlane for posting this to youtube.

Love ya!

About Carol

I started writing on this site back in May 2009, not knowing what I was in for or where it would take me. I had no idea of the joy and personal satisfaction I'd find here. I never dreamed that I'd get to meet Adam, but that dream came true! The bonus of becoming such great friends with Lila and the other fans is what keeps me going. Music gets me though every day. In addition to Adam, I love Muse, Linkin Park, 80s and finding newer bands and supporting them by attending everything that's within 350 miles. With Adam, the boundaries are farther! Thanks for joining us on this ride! :)

  1. Oh adam.. Your whole first album was awesome.. You can do it all.. I love how it has so many sides to it.. Please dont limit yourself.. We love you..
I listen to your first album everyday on my way to work. Nothing wakes me up better…

I totally agree. I love the mix of music. Its awakening, and soothing, and wonderfull all at the same time. I so much reminds me of my fav. Queen albums, every song was a new experience, but the vocals were always amazing. I hope Adam keeps up with the same vib. Love Ya.

      • I totally agree! I love the mix of the music on FYE – that’s why I’ve been listening to it every day since it came out! I normally play only mix CDs b/c I don’t want to listen to just one singer or group, but Adam sounds dif on every song, which is what I love about him! The live performances are great (I bought the DVD/CD as soon as it came out) but the FYE CD remains my fav!

        • Tina Glamb#645 says:

I LOVED THE ENTIRE CD!!!! I hope he doesn’t limit himself!! Will have a new tat soon…Now just have to figure out how to post it to ya’ll when I get it!!!

Mistress Lambert #654 (the tat is going to be Adam related)

  2. I’m so glad he addressed the fact that he was off in his album. I noticed it more when he actually sang the words, “In the aftermath.” So, he wasn’t on pitch, most singers aren’t. Isn’t that why they have a soudn engineer, or whatever you call them, to take care of that?

Nevertheless, he’s our Idol and will remain so.

Thanks for posting this. I always get a kick out of Adam in an interview. He’s just so damned good!

  3. Adam always praises other singers, but he is streets and miles ahead; I still think Adam should have won in his category. Anyway, his DVD/CD hit the #1 spot on the video music chart only a week into its launch. Adam is making some serious headway into the music industry. His Aftermath (remix) is nominated for an award but I love the version he sang on Idol, his vocals were fierce and his expression radiant, maybe he was singing for ….. !

  4. IDOLeyes says:

i love it that he said he ‘listened’ when we said we wanted to hear more of his voice and not be buried by the instruments- ‘Mad World’ with the soft piano in the background was for me – the moment he stole my heart . Cant wait for new album altho FYE i will never get tired of , buried or not on some track’s- i cant get enough xx

  5. Ana Glam says:

Adam is the ultimate professional. He is such a genuine person, so comfortable in his own skin. His acknowledgement of his contemporaries and their talent is a tribute to his awareness of his own talent. He is so real. His FYE CD will probably always be my favorite because it was my first complete connection to Adam and his music. I believe Adam’s music and his message will always be in my heart. I look forward to his next CD. I am especially looking forward to his next live concert because there is nothing like Adam in the flesh. Talk about a charged up environment…I love it and I can never get enough of anything Adam Lambert. Peace.

  6. I completely and totally agree with IDOLeyes: Mad World & Fellin’ Good – these 2 things that got me entrapped.

To be honest, and despite Adam’s scepticism re his earlier Take One singles, I adore his “Fields” and “Hourglass” – the last one really should be the on-board music for each self-respecting air company ;0)

At least, I listen to it each time a plain’s ready for take off, in my business and personal trips, last 6 months…

But “Whattaya want” is a pure hit, without any doubts. And I adore it as well – such an explosion and mixture of emotions – just like a heave summer shower that takes all alien off soul.

Re this interview, I’d appreciate the interviewer professionalism – she really got into it and made Adam open up and share his thoughts and feelings. Smart questions and highly respectful treatment.

In this interview, I noticed, maybe for the 1st time, how attentively Adam listens to the interviewer: he keeps the eye control and really gets into the questions and messages from Lindsey. My parents say: watch how the person listens to others – and you’ll get almost 90% idea of who he is…. :o)

In conclusion, I’m highly satisfied where Adam is currently and in what direction he moves. It means that we’ll get a some more chance to enjoy his absolutely awesome talant and personality!

My greatest respect to this really outstanding Entertainer.

  7. Great interview as usual. This is a little off the topic, but I just heard or read somewhere that a movie version of Wicked is being thought about. Wouldn’t it be great if, because he was in the stage play, that they would consider him to be a part of the movie – hopefully in a bigger part than what he had in the stage version, but it would be great to see his talent on the big screen too.

    • I thought that as soon as I heard they might make a movie of Wicked! Wasn’t he the understudy for the lead? This time he can play the lead! He definitely has the acting chops! I would so love to see Adam in a movie, and would (of course) buy the DVD as soon as it came out. Plus Wicked is a great show!

  8. I also would love a CD of Adams Idol tracks. I cant believe one isnt available. I would buy it.

    • I got my cd of all the idol tracks off of Ebay.I don’t know if their available anymore or not,It even has his performances of him with KISS and QUEEN.

  9. I bought the DVD of his idol performances on line so maybe if you put in to search for Adam Lambert CD/DVD idol performances you may come up with one. The DVD is great – it covers his audition thru the finale. Great!!! It was only 10.00.

  10. I loved the bit where he said yes and the Muppets! such a cute face love im so much

  11. Onegoodwoman says:

I can not wait until his new album comes out. It is going to be awesome!

  12. I didn’t know he actually addressed the problem about the vocals being a little overpowered by the accompaniments, on video. I like the way he says he’ll make sure to focus on the vocals and they are ” up close, right there in your face ” using his hand to emphasise it. And oh… so handsome !!

  13. adam voice is more rock and i hope it dosent dissapoint us again.

  14. i dont want to judge but i hope this album send adam to no.1 hit
