Adam Lambert: Among Idol’s Top Money Earners

In all the hours of your lifetime that you’ve spent thinking about EverythingAdam, either in line waiting for a coveted front row Glam Nation concert spot, or when you’ve been alone in your car or living room listening to that Rock Master’s voice, have you ever tried to figure out how much Adam earned this past year? Take in his share of all the digital and physical sales of his For Your Entertainment album and what he earned from the Glam Nation Tour and special appearances, and whattaya come up with? (Sorry, couldn’t resist!) Now we’re getting some insight, thanks to Zack O’Malley Greenburg and The Beat Report, from

It’s being reported that Adam earned a rocking $6 million last year, sharing the second spot on the list with Chris Daughtry. We all know Carrie Underwood is the list topper. In fact, she earned more than the next five on the list combined. I’m sure Eber is thankful he continued to support Adam, even when he wasn’t too happy about it. Remember the Idol family episode where they showed him telling Leila that a little success would be a good thing?! Well, he’s sure got it now. The other thing I hope he has a good tax/investment advisor!!

The following paragraph from Greenburg’s article talks about Adam:

Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry share the second spot on our list, each raking in $6 million. Lambert, the runner up in Idol’s seventh season (it was the eighth season – Carol), performed 115 shows around the world in 12 months; Daughtry played 53 dates in support of album Leave This Town. The top ten money-making Idol alums combined to earn $50 million over the past year alone.

Ummm, Daughtry earned $6 million from an album and 53 shows, and Adam earned $6 million from an album and 116 shows?? Anyone else out there afraid they may raise the ticket price for Adam’s next tour?!?

Love ya!

About Carol

I started writing on this site back in May 2009, not knowing what I was in for or where it would take me. I had no idea of the joy and personal satisfaction I'd find here. I never dreamed that I'd get to meet Adam, but that dream came true! The bonus of becoming such great friends with Lila and the other fans is what keeps me going. Music gets me though every day. In addition to Adam, I love Muse, Linkin Park, 80s and finding newer bands and supporting them by attending everything that's within 350 miles. With Adam, the boundaries are farther! Thanks for joining us on this ride! :)

  1. Daffy Doodle says:

Actually thought Adam probably made several million on his tour before paying his expenses. Much was written about how much each show made, but then he went international, and figures stopped. Not surprised at all. He certainly worked very hard for that 6 million. Very happy for him.

  2. Samantha Rosalie Cannon says:

I can’t wait till he goes on tour again…I hope they don’t raise ticket prices, though. It’d be cowl if they sold V.I.P so people could meet him. The thing is more concerts = higher expenses; like more venues, more travel, etc. His costs would be even higher because he went international and just didn’t stay in the U.S. So the things like plane trips would be a lot more then what Daughtry spent.

  3. DNSowles says:

So VERY HAPPY for him! Hope we get a next tour that I can afford! Love him sooooo much!!

  4. Lila - Glamb #3 says:

Did Daughtry have dancers and extra glitter?

    • Ha ha-extra glitter?? Try no glitter. no dancers-all of which adds to production costs. But, yeah, it’s easy to note that Chris of course puts on a pretty traditional rocker concert. (Great music!)

  5. Adam Lambert rocks and I’m so glad that he is doing so well!!!…I would definitely pay more to go see him…we saw him when he was in Houston, TX and even brought our 4 and 5 year olds who absolutely fell in love with him on AI, and it was awesome!!!…Please come back to H-Town soon Adam…we will be there and would love to shake your hand and congratulate you!!!…Now don’t go spending all that money in one place!!!

  6. Where do you people read about Adam’s tours, money, etc? I must not be buying the right magazines.

  7. DNSowles says:

When Adam fills Madison Square Garden to capacity, he will be a total icon! I have NO doubt it will happen!!

  8. Sharron says:

I am happy Adam is finally living his dream and making fairly decent money at it. Those of us who saw him perform live should thank our lucky stars we saw him in small venues before, because I have a feeling that from now on he will be playing those big places, where you are a mile from the stage. Unless, of course, you can afford to pay scalper prices for the really good seats. I sure wish now that I had put out the money to get a seat in the first few rows; it will now cost a fortune. I think I will start saving my pennies now. So, his new album will be released this fall, which means he probably won’t start touring until the first of the year, or maybe not even until next spring. Don’t know if I can stand to wait that long to see him in person, but if we have to, we have to, right?

  9. I’m not too worried that ticket prices will go up too too much as, since this album is more organic, per Adam himself, I think it will be a more traditional concert, like he gave in Moscow. I liked the dancers, etc., from the Glamnation tour, but if this second album is, as he says, more leather, less glitter, probably the production will be simpler and he won’t have to raise the price. For me, Adam is always the main draw, and lazers and dancers and smoke and everything else but certainly not essential. I certainly hope this is something he notes, in light of just how terrible the economy is.

  10. Eriskay says:

The last tour cost me plenty, but it was worth it. No, I never would have thought to find out how much Adam made, but my daughter did, months ago. It was at $5million when she googled it. I couldn’t believe she did that.
I have a feeling that Adam’s sophomore album is going to be a “killer”, as was reported by someone. I think he’s learned a lot about the music business.
I have no doubt that when it comes to his earnings, he will invest wisely. He has a good business head. I’m so happy for him and where he is right now. I wish him continued success and if I can afford to see one of his concerts, I will. If not, I’ll enjoy his music and videos.

  11. He deserves all the monetary success he earns. Going to his concert was one of the best experiences i have ever had. And i cannot wait for his next.

  12. Adam sure deserve it. He really work hard last year.

  13. maryann says:

Adam Lambert is a great singer and performer and I am so, so glad to be one of his loyal fans. Love him soooo much………..

  14. Tina Glamb#645 says:

I CAN’T WAIT for the next album!!! I’ve already alerted my cousin so she can be ready and know that there will be a concert to follow soon after! I REALLY HOPE they don’t raise the prices for the concert. I love the “hubby”, but my income is VERY restricted, which I’m sure a lot of peoples are. He deserves ALL the sucess he has…He’s THE BEST!!! 🙂

  15. My gosh, we’re back, getting excited for what’s next in ADAMLANDIA. I had a dry spell for sometime with no Adam in my near horizon. Has the umbilical cord to Adam been cut off ? What ? Is he our mother dear, and we are his “sucklings” ? Suck it to me baby ! He had also been breastfeeding us all along. Ha-ha-ha. We just want his milk. And no other milk in the world can compare.

We’re so thirsty for Adam. But our Mother Dear also deserves all the rest in the world, and for a while, just have to be his real self, unburdened by babies, and a lot of chores. But yet, I feel like wailing and crying, “ADAM ! ADAM ! ADAM ! Give it to us. We want your milk of human kindness in your songs. We want your lullabies, to put us your babies, to rest and slumber. We want to hear your laughter, as we coo in response. Once we were mothers…. but now you mother us. Life is even….Life is balanced. You complete us….. but we complete you too. As babies, do to their mothers.

  16. KailuaGirl1966 says:

Is Adam under contract with Entertainment 19??
    Glam #394

  17. I’m very happy for Adam and the good company he is compared with! Daughtry wasn’t a runner up even. Did Taylor Hicks win that one? It seems like the performers might be better off not coming in first! Adam is the best!!!

  18. By the way, is anyone still waiting for Adam’s signed photo for celebrating his 29 B-day by giving to Charity Water? Why I not getting mine?! Who or where I can contact —–to find out ——

    • Adamesque says:

I finally received mine about 3 weeks ago. They said on the Fan Club site that they are being sent out in different bunches because there were so many. Did you get that email back in March (I think it was March)? It asked for your address. If you got that then you should be getting the photo soon. I was worried too!

  19. Congrats to Adam, he is so deserving! I am looking forward to the release of his new CD, it would be really great if it was a CVD, love watching Adam while he is singing…………

  20. I think Adam make more lots of concerts, festivals, many more things, maybe $8million.but he’s album sell and single counts with this total that make$6mill?

Adam did Canada festival and he sang new song but not pretty to classic with ballads.I hope Adam understand some fans want rock album with edge to it like him edgy, crazy energetic performer and heavy guitar and drums in2album

I want him 2album to be more crazier than 1 album with less auto tune, more crazy badass rock like him.

  21. Adam Planners, Please, please, please don’t raise the price for Adam’s concert tickets, we know he’s worth it, but if you do that aloooooooooot of us won’t be able to go, ’cause we don’t have the money to get tickets and that would be a real shame,’cause Adam is SO GREAT he will probably get more ticket sales if they are not SO high, then he’ll outrank ALL THE OTHERS. We know if more people could afford the tickets, all his concerts would be even more overpacked!!!!!!!!! Please take pity on us Adam lovers who don’t have that kind of money and keep the tickets affordable. The one show we got to go to, we had to save, save, save, just to go & we really love him & everything he does!!!!! And we are a straight married couple, with sister in tow!!!!!!! Love 4-ever & a day, Rita, Cliff & sister Donna

  22. Adam: I am a fan of yours! You are a total musician and lovely inside and out. Please protect your body by never using drugs and little alcohol. Keep your life private and keep contributing to good social causes. I know that you are a friend of Kris Allen but that Idol trophy should have been yours. I am so glad that you have such a good relationship with your mom. Your whole family is supportive of your career. If you keep using good common sense, you will have a great, long career. Your voice cannot be imitated, it is so strong and melodious. Please keep making records. You will also be great making movies but not all just singing. You and Christina Aguilera would make a grand albulm-it would be a sellout! Take Care!
